Unlike traditional (renaissance and baroque) tablature,
modern tablature indicates note duration with the
stems, flags and beams of standard musical notation.
Who introduced this form of tablature? As far as
I know, it was Pete Seeger in his 5-string banjo
instruction book, first published in 1948. Does
anyone know of any predecessors?
