Randy is full of great ideas and humor.
I kind of enjoyed having a completely unhindered CD with almost no
accompaniment, so the ideas just stood on their own. Not everyone's
ideas are unique or strong enough to stand alone like that. I really
enjoyed the CDs, and not just because each CD contains a parody of one
of my songs :)
More likely, Randy chose to parody my songs because we think alike,
and that's why i enjoyed them.
Recommended for people who love lyrics, especially smart funny ones.
Mix of filk and folk, and a tiny bit of rock influence.

Wasn't aware that Randy had put these out. I like his work, so thanks
for the heads-up.

Interesting point.
There have been a wide range of filk recordings from very sparse to
fully orchestrated to complexly produced to overproduced... but I
haven't heard many, outside of the recorded-at-con type, that strongly
featured a bare solo voice. Done right, I can definitely see it working.
Yes, that approach probably needs either a better-than-average voice or
better-than-average storytelling or both to keep the listener engaged.
Luckily, filk is very strongly oriented toward story-telling and/or
language games, so it's more likely to work for us than for some of the
other communities.
