With Panix when something is wrong you can pick up the telephone and call
the support office and say "the /var partition on panix2 is overflowing"
and they will log in and fix it while you are on the phone because you
are talking to an actual technical person who not only knows something
about computers but has been delegated enough power by the organization to
fix them.
It's like the way ISPs were back in the early nineties before the internet
went wrong.
