The Fellowship of Makers and Researchers of Historical
Instruments (FoMRHI) is an organization based in England with a
worldwide membership. It publishes a quarterly magazine called,
appropriately, FoMRHI Quarterly, which contains unedited articles
(from the authors' typescripts) about musical instruments,
especially the construction and design of them. The purpose of
the quarterly is to provide a forum for informal thoughts on a
subject, rather than the kind of polished scholarly article that
might go into, say, the Journal of the American Musical
Instrument Society or the Galpin Society Journal. A membership
costs me about $25 per year. To join, write to the Hon. Sec.,
Jeremy Montagu, c/o Faculty of Music, St Aldate's, Oxford OX1
1DB, England.
Yours,
David Lasocki
