French organ masses such as those of F. Couperin (Parishes), Grigny, Gigault, etc., were performed with chant alternating with the organ versets, generally beginning with Kyrie Omnipotens genitor. The chants are available in any Liber usualis, but I'm looking for the versions current in Paris in the 17c--they were often sung in measured rhythm, and it's obvious from the sections quoted in the plein jeu versets that the notes were different as well.
It's strange that I've not been able to find editions of organ masses that include this chant, or articles on French organ masses that reproduce the chant from French chant-books. Does anyone have such versions?
