Can anyone give me some references for detailed
information about the kadrille / Quadrille / Cuadrille
Squadriglia in the 18th Century.

I am particularly interested in its popularity in Russia
or at the Polish/Lithuanian Court, and details of the
music that would have been used.

Grove say that the Quadrille is one of the most popular
ballroom dances of the 19th Century, derived from Italian
Squadriglia or Spanish cuadrille, originally applied to
small company of cavalry subsequently to group of dancers
in a pagent and then to a troupe of dancers in ther
elaborate French ballets of the 18th Century.

MGG gives references to some German articles, but all
rather old.

Is there some more recent research on the subject?
Thanks
