Not Dark Yet was recorded in January 1997 and released in September that year as the seventh track on Dylan's album Time Out of Mind.
Fragments - Time Out of Mind Sessions (1996-1997): The Bootleg Series, Vol. 17, scheduled for release on January 27, 2023, will contain a remix version of the original album track as well as two studio outtakes of the song and a live version from 2000. On January 11, 2023 Dylan released a new video of one of the outtakes (Not Dark Yet, version 1).
