Oh oh, I looked up all the Suzanne Susan Suzie Susie songs, and forgot
to check out Sue. Thankfully I've got no room for Boy Named Sue, but
there are some Sweet Sues I should have considered

Exactly. Also, BB will be happy to hear I bumped Big Joe Turner for the
whiter sounding Mills Brothers.

Dickhead.

You left off one of the biggest Susan hits ever, "Susan" by the Fucking Buckinghams.

That's indeed a nice song for fans of Bread, but it just didn't make the
cut.

Neither did The Arbors - A Symphony For Susan, which is even schlockier
than the Buckinghams.

What makes Guy Mitchell and Eddie Cantor less shlocky than the Buckinghams?

I can't be responsible for the shit musical taste of most of the members of this group.

That's a very interesting question.

The Buckinghams are trying too hard to be arty farty in their soft rock way

Guy Mitchell actually has a very soulful voice. I had assumed that
Singing the Blues was his only good song (and one that inspired Dylan to
write Living the Blues) but I was quite surprised at how good his Susie
song was.

I usually can't abide Eddie Cantor, though I always wanted to like him,
because he is one of the icons of popular music. I found his Suzie song
irresistible.

It's when you get into Bread that you start to sound suspiciously
satirical. Even if Bread is more worthy than their reputation, a guy who
obsesses about black music would never like Bread.

Dude (and i don't use the locution nor phraseology lightly),

Here you are on the vestigial endtime remains and erstwhile circling the drain dylan usenet newsgroup using a "real" newsreader, typing a list of suzie susan suzanne songs, some ephemeral if not momentary or best forgotten, and haven't the decency to state that "I didn't have room for Suze (The Cough Song)?".

A touch, a touch, i do confess.

Carry on,

I won't have room for Wigwam on my Wig compilation either. No instrumentals!

Prez, I think you overlooked one of Don's staple rules for his comps:
the word must be used in the song. Now if Dylan had coughed something
that resembled Suze, he probably would have taken it into consideration.

hey RobertM, how are you? I hope this finds you and yours in good health.

It's so difficult keeping up with things 'round hear from my tweeter account.

Coming from really, i call BS. If he would twit his rules i'd gladly post them as an 18x24 Poster suitable for framing.

From you, i'll accept and exonerate his indiscretion. In return i'd like an explanation for omitting

I ordered some suzette, I said
“Could you please make that crepe”

Just as i thought.

BTW, FWIW, i happen to know the lyrics, not only to Suze (The Cough Song) and Wigwam, but also to "In Memory of Elizabeth Reed".

Peace, if any, be with you and yours,

Because I'm still waiting for someone to put Tarantula to music

"I think at these times of many things an' many people I think of Sue
most times beautiful Sue with the lines of a swan frightened easy as a
fawn in the forest by this time deep in dreams with her long hair spread
out the color of the sun soakin' the dark an' scatterin' light t' the
dungeons of my constant night I think love poems as a poor lonesome
invalid knowin' of my power t' destroy the good souls of the road that
know no sickness except that of kindness (you ask of love? there is no
love except in silence an' silence doesn't say a word) ah but Sue she
knows me well perhaps too well an' is above all the true fortuneteller
of my soul"
