Hmmmmm, technically, it's not about a dog though, is it?

How about:

"My brother's got a doggie
goes woofy, woofy, bow-wow
If you don't believe me
come see..."

that one's dylan and otherwise - well, he sings it and boody guppie wrote it

actual dylan songs which mention dogs (or, indeed, feature dogs as back-up
singers) are too numerous to mention.

more otherwise:

"How Much Is That Doggie In The Window?" (Patti Page, my very first 45rpm!)

"Old Shep" (El-vis Presley)

"I Had A Dog and His Name Was King" (Neil Young)

I think there's a line or two in there about an old flea-infested pooch.
It starts:
The sun comes up
And the sun goes down
And the hands on the clock
Go 'round and 'round
I just get up and it's time to lay down
Life gets teed-jess, don't it? ...and it goes on about a dog
with fleas, too tired to bite
them - cute tune.

Definitely I have to add "If Dogs Run Free".
