Just gave Prince's new dealybob a good listen and feel compelled to
post my satisfaction. Man that cat can play! And at least one side out
of three, lotusflow3r, is as good as anything I've heard from anyone
in a long time and the other two, real bonus tablesetters. His
production values are solid, songs well-composed and he seems to have
lost his baby fat, those curly-q rolls around his libidinal
expressions, in favor of the serious profile of a mature and
thoughtful man of music. Without givin' up the funk. That said, I am a-
wonderin' if Prin's ever covered any Bob Dylan material and,
similarly, if Bob has ever done any of his fellow Minnesotan's songs
proud. Any kind chance that there is an authoritative answer out there
somewhere?

Thanks. I probably should have asked if Prince had ever recorded any
of Bob's work.

On the other hand, I imagine if Bob had recorded anything by Prince,
we would know about it by now. But did he ever perform any of Prince's
songs?

I recall Dylan being interviewed by Rolling Stone magazine, perhaps by
Jonathon Cott or Cam Crowe, and stating that he thought Prince was a "Boy
Wonder" ad generally expressing his admiration of Prince's songwriting, or
playing. Sorry I can't recall any more specifics than that......

The closest is Dirty World - Bob wrote it (with George, Roy, Jeff &
Tom), but George described how Bob suggested they 'do one like
Prince', and that he was cavorting around, swinging his hips and
singing "love your sexy body, love your dirty mind!". He also praised
Prince in the Arena documentary Getting To Dylan, saying something
like "Prince is great. He can do anything, can't he?"

Apparently, Prince has "issues" with Youtube, hence the best i can
come up with lives here:

http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x15048_superbowl-xli-halftime-show-starrin_music

where the artist formerly does a few bars of AatW approx 5:20, whether
as tribute to dylan or hendrix.

Of course, the superBowl is sacrosanct in my House, where i get
actually to control the horizontal & vertical; the missus & i having
been 2nd-tier Prince fans, she joined me 1/2Time.

Perhaps not clear from this video is the downpour if not purple rain
he stood in... Jehovah's Witnessing against the electric storm.

And then there were the Puritans who, after Janet's wardrobe mishap,
suggested that his guitar neck projected against the scrim was Phallic
& obScene.

As to bob on prince, i've no evidence but a memory that during the
Wilburys they were bouncing ideas around... like doing a Springsteen
song which resulted in Tweeter.

Allegedly dylan said "let's do one like prince" which resulted in the
one where she sticks her tongue right down his throat.

That said, may your portage thru the land of 10,000 lakes reach 10,001
with room to spare.

Ciao bambino,
