Richard Manual actually sings the second verse although its drowned out a
bit...hope that helps.

And the great Martin Scorcese fails to have a camera ready to film Richard
singing. It should also be pointed out to the original poster that Richard
co-wrote the song with Bob, which I've always presumed meant Richard-music,
Bob-lyrics.

You are confusing "Released" with "Tears of Rage." Bob wrote "Released"
all by his own self.

In his book THIS WHEEL'S ON FIRE, Levon Helm goes into some detail about
THE LAST WALTZ and the drama surrounding it. Helm was not pleased with
Robbie's ego, overdubbing most of the music (Levon did NOT participate in
those sessions), and Scorsese's not capturing Richard Manuel on celluloid.
Also, Dylan's original refusal to be filmed, and Dylan leaving with the
masters for his set, so that he would have more bargaining power. . .
and of course, the invention of the "BOOGER MATTE" . . . a new procedure
developed to cover the cocaine under Neil Young's nose . . .
