Stop me if I've already asked this here, but can anyone help me find the
Traveler's version of Tina Tina You're Rocking the Boat. I just met
another Tina, whose parents had Kingston Trio albums, and I'm sure she
was named after this song. Was it only a hit in Canada?

Oops, I made a mistake. It must have been The Easy Riders who did Tina
Tina You're Rocking the Boat, and they weren't even Canadina

It's the Easy Riders' version of a song written by Boudleaux & Felice Bryant and doesn't seem to be available other than on a six-cd Easy Riders box set from Bear Family. Obviously, not cheap--especially to get hold of just one song.

She was named after this far better song:

Impressive sleuthing, khematite! But you're right, that's a bit too
pricey for one song. I'll just have to track down someone who actually
owns this box set and borrow the song from them.

That song is pretty deriviative of Little Darling. Have you ever
actually heard the Easy Rider's song, BB?

Thankfully no.

This subject line reminds me of the Twilight Zone episode about the murderous doll, the doll's name was "Talky Tina"... wow, that was a scary, creep episode...

Well, it seems official... again. Google Groups are not posting, so trying
Eternal-September here, with a quickie test.

Here's Tina:

When I first glanced this I thought it read "Tina Turner You Are Rocking the Boat!" - which reminded me of Frank O'Hara's poem "Lana Turner has collapsed!" for some, or some obvious, reasons:

http://www.poets.org/viewmedia.php/prmMID/20394

"...oh Lana Turner we love you get up."

It's very nice to see the lyrics to "Tina Tina You're Rocking the Boat,"
but when I try to play the song, a George Harrison song plays instead.

I'm really curious whether this song will sound good to me after 60
years or if it will sound silly. One day I will find out, I hope.

But thanks for the lyrics. The Tina I sent them to was quite impressed.
She was born the year the song came out, and will ask her parents if
they knew the song.

Only a 30-second clip, but it might refresh your memory of what the song sounded like all those years ago.

Rarely has so gallant a search led to so lame a result. Treasure of Sierra Madre?

Well, you do need to factor in the thrill of the hunt. Anyway, the Treasure of Sierra Madre was actually real. This was more like the Maltese Falcon--worthless from the start.

I don't think the song is so worthless. I just don't think it's worth $200.

It would sound fine on a Boat compilation, near the end, anyway.

Well, you called it "pretty goofy." I guess there's a fine line between pretty goofy and worthless.

I like goofy - those old novelty songs were always kind of fun
