My favorite larger than average music man is Solomon Burke. He has his
own throne.

I'm feeling so empty since you killfiled me. What can I do to get you
to change your mind?
I notice only one is female. Curious.

Lowell George, Etta James, Sam the Snowman.
Etta James is not at all "fat" any more.
The Beatle's favorite American band - Sophie Tucker.

Many a lass used to swoon over Barry White.
"Fat" is in the eye of the beholder, of course, but here's some of my
faves:
Bobby Shew
Jimmy Rushing
Phoebe Snow
Art Tatum
Aretha Franklin (fat lately)
Charlie Parker
Luther Vandross (sometimes fat)
Ann Wilson
Abe Laboriel Jr.
Israel Kamakawiwoʻole
and
Karen Carpenter ;-)
Stevie Tick
No Knick
Go Nicks
TuMuLTy
Maybe his voice, yeah, I'll grant you that.
AMEN.
And also the great stately Doctor himself, Mr. Mac Rebennack.
Bessie Smith
Israel Kamakawiwoʻole
and who could forget...Leslie West?
Of course I love Mavis Staples, but you'll never catch me ever saying
she's less than svelte...
Lennon, at least his image on Meet The Beatles cover.
Lennon.......Meet The Beatles album cover.
Meet The Beatles - information about the album Meet The Beat...
Information about the Beatles album Meet The Beatles. ... Album Cover
Notes: The same photo that was used on the With The Beatles cover,
shot in a hotel ...
D. Boon of the Minutemen.
West has trimmed down quite a bit. He's got a new album out, BTW.
Blues To Die For. Unlike the Leslie West of today, It's got plenty of
meat on it.
The Nice Mean Man
Neither is Cass, I'd wager to say.

Rod Price, the lead guitarist for Foghat, must have been near the 350
mark around 1998. But by the time of his second solo album 'Open', he
too had slimed down considerably. He still croaked of a heart attack a
couple of years later, so I guess none of it really made any
difference. I'll stick with those two inch thick steaks, myself. When
it's your time to exit, you will.
The Nice Mean Man
Gram Parsons and Brian Jones were both going places before they...
err, unexpectedly went someplace else.

What if I thought it just was ok?
I also liked the way Iz sang "Somewhere Over The Rainbow".
What if he was just ok when he was fat but you love him now and he's
thin? What then, hummm?

Here's a repost of a Youtube tribute to IZ... with over 2 million
views:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PL-uL2M3xvM&feature=related
Another Youtube tribute to IZ has nearly 5 million views. I only
mention it because it got me to wondering about what sort of memorial
tributes we give our musical heroes. If you go about 3:30 minutes
into the above link, you'll see the celebration for the scattering of
Israel Kamakawiwo'ole's ashes into the sea. This isn't a party just
for family or for an elite tribe -- this was a celebration of joy for
whoever could make it to the beach that day... those who loved IZ.
Not to be morbid, but what sort of celebration awaits Bob? Anything?
How was Jerry Garcia memorialized? John Lennon got candle-light
vigils from a mourning fanbase who despaired over the sudden and
untimely and violent loss -- was there also a joyful celebration for
the goodness he brought during his life?
For some reason or other, I seem to be spending my day here talking
about the islands.

25-30,000 people turned out on a glorious San Francisco Sunday in
Golden Gate Park to celebrate the life of Jerry Garcia. Around the
country gatherings spontaneously sprung up as well as they had for
John Lennon.
