extra stanza in Spanish, near the end (inserted before the last,
'overturn these tables' stanza, and not sung by Nelson).

I have added 'de' in the fourth line for coherence (I think I hear it
anyway).
My (fairly literal) translation:
Like the mountain wind I found him for the last time
trying to find the soul or else losing
like the midst of the abyss the love he did not find
in the night of time he remained with the gold
Who is singing? The tones are rather operatic, Placido Domingo-like?
Is it a member of Calexico?
Who wrote these lyrics, and how did they end up added to this version?
And of course, depending also on the answers to these questions, what
do they add to the interpretation of Dylan's song?

Excellent post, and pardon the tardiness of my response. I was looking
into it, and it took some time.
And my answer is, i don't know.
Who is singing, who wrote the lyrics? i don't know.
( i will thank you for getting me finally to unShrinkwrap my CDs; my
my my that was two thousand and ought seven? seems like it was just
three or four years ago. Some pretty good stuff on there; some i don't
much care for but that doesn't invalidate the artistic intent. )

Since my answer to those questions is i don't know, i'd say they
neither add nor subtract from interpretising the song.
I've never understood it really, Until someone pointed it out, i
didn't even know where Lincoln County Road was, nor its attachment to
Pat Garrett & Billy.
Armageddon? i'm pretty sure i saw that in my rear view mirror some
time ago.
That is, to me it's one of those bobSongs that suffers from overAnal-
Isis; hence i prefer just to let it roll.
Certainly the additional verse shifts focus briefly from firstperson
addressing secondperson; another person is introduced but it's not
clear if it's a response by SeÑor or a third party heartofore
uninvolved.
All speculation welcome ...

I decided to check out the above suggested forum.
It is chockablock with interesting FAQs, that's for sure. And, highly
moderated so no undesireables can sling grey water or other effluvium
at each other (I learned about Grey Water Park in the TTRH FAQ). I
also know that one man's grey water can become another man's fertile
soil.
The forum is not unlike a neighborhood with CC&Rs, but that's okay,
civil behavior can often get more done than civil disobedience (but
not all the time). They don't want you to say anything that Bob
wouldn't want to hear. I have mixed feelings about that rule.
But, I will definitely comb my hair and put on some shoes & my best
manners when I visit. It's nice to play with grown-ups once in a
while.

o well, i never really read the FAQs there... i just figger to behave
in a manner that conforms to my own sense of propriety, and it shd
offend no one except the easily offendable.
There is at that site a fair amount of silliness; i don't monitor it
closely enough to be certain of its contents; likely closely
bobRelated, not far afield, but personalised by the individual folk
who reside there. Doubt if i've posted more than 50 or so times.
As to your grooming suggestions, no one really can see you when you
post on the innernest; bathrobe and slippers and unkempt hair are
allowed.
Myself, when i go to ER i find a simple black sheath, accessorised
with sensible black pumps and a modest string of faux pearls, is a
classic look none can deny.

At the same time, i still can' figure out the "meaning" behind these
lyrics.
"overturn these tables" always brings to (my admittedly feeble) mind
christ overturning the moneychangers' tables.
"disconnect these cables" makes me think we wdn't be able to
communicate round hear, let along faceBook.
tho' sometimes i thnik that wouldn't be such a bad thing.
