Hi,

I'm a journalist in Montreal, Canada and I'm trying to get in touch with
Clinton Heylin, author of Bob Dylan: Behind the shades. I am preparing
an article on the history of Bootlegging (tape-trading) and he is an
expert in the subject.

(And, no, since it's come up before, I don't intend to write the
standard media "bootlegging is evil, stealing money from hard-working
artists" nor "this is how to bootleg for fun and profit" article. It's
something a bit different, and hopefully something a bit more
intelligent.)

If anyone has any contact information for him, please forward it to me
at teena...@sympatico.ca or mil...@voir.ca

Thanks very much.

SNIP

Thanks to everyone for their suggestions.

Mr Heylin's website seems to be down, and I've not found any other way
to contact him -- so, if there are any other clues, I'd be happy to try
and track him down. (BTW, did you know, that according to BT
directories, there is no-one with the last name Heylin residing in the
UK? Or, more accurately, there is no-one with a phone listed under that
surname.)

Anyhoo, if there is some-one else with expertise about the subject of
tape-trading/bootlegging (regarding Dylan, or another artist, of any era
or genre) I'd appreciate a suggestion.

Thanks for all your help. I'll be sure to post a copy of my article when
it's finished.

I have a vague memory that Heylin's latest book 'Dylan's Demon Lover'
contains an email address for him (I don't have the book, was just flipping
through it in a bookshop, so can't check) - it stuck in my mind because was
something to do with 'mad dog', which seemed surprisingly self-aware (or
surprisingly appropriate if not personally chosen).

When last heard from, he was still nursing his wounds from the review in the
Spring 1996 Telegraph of his Recording Sessions book. Poor cuss.

mr loeber, have you heard the saying "dont look too hard you just might
find what you are looking for"?? mr loeber do you think its a good
idea to look for mr clinton?? do folks know what they do when they go
out to particular crossroads?? esoteric books can be written about
this.
mr loeber, since we are waist deep in esoteric events, i hear mr craig
jameison the leader of edlis has written two books on esoteric budda-
ism. true. my question is this: should one who is a bodisata, striving
to achieve perfect wisdom, want to join up to them high falutin
dylanogist groups you brough up recentely?? is this not something akin
to standing on the water casting you bread, while the eyes of the idol
with golden head aglow???
wouldnt everything be just fine if folks didnt clap so hard??
