Hi there!
This announcement is cross-posted to a few specific newsgroups,
because I lurk or hang out on them, and I think the folks on them
might be interested. Note and apologia: My server has been giving
me the Evil Eye the last two days. If you see this post more than
once, please forgive me. This is the last time I'll try.
For those of you who do know me: Hi! The new one's finally done.
Finished. In the can. At the duplicator. Out at MarCon. Thanks
for your patience.
For those of you who don't know me: Hi! My name's Tom Smith.
I'm kinda well-known in filk (sf convention folksinging), and
my songs have been played on Dr. Demento a few times, and I've
got two previous live tapes (Who Let Him In Here? and Domino
Death), and I'm just done with the new one, my very first studio
tape, and also my first CD. It's called TOM SMITH PLUGGED.
Why is this announcement where it is?
alt.-, rec.music.filk -- 'cause here's where I hang, sillies.
It's got spiff versions of Rocket Ride and Bermuda Triangle and
Tom Smith Disease, and stuff you probably haven't heard, like
Mand(e)la and Falling Free and On-Line Religion and Spam Spam Spam
and Psychic Voicemail Hotline and Cthulhu Lite FM, and Garboo
(the song I wrote for my grandmother), and a decently ass-kicking
jazz combo version of the Superman Sex Life Boogie.
rec.music.dementia -- 'cause I've been on the Funny Five a couple
of times, so *somebody* out there under the smogberry trees thinks
I got a lick or two. I'm pretty sure you'll like the silliness,
and the puns, and the serious songs aren't too bad either.
rec.arts.tv.mst3k.misc -- 'cause I hang out here, and have posted
a bunch of online MSTings with more to come, and I think you'll
all like it, and there's a good chance that even you, yes, YOU,
won't get all the jokes. Take the Pepsi Guzzler's Challenge!
alt.sys.amiga.audio, -.misc -- 'cause I arranged everything with
Bars & Pipes Pro 2.5b and SuperJAM! 1.1, on my trusty A4000. My
producer has a fine and serviceable Acer 486DX66 with Power Tracks
Pro, but that was basically just to run the MIDI sync. I'll have
the MIDI files on my web page by the end of this month; give a
listen and let me know what you think.
alt.callahans, rec.arts.sf.fandom -- best reason of all: 'cause
you're my friends, and I want we should laugh and cry and hope
and dream together.
Okay. Time for particulars.
TOM SMITH PLUGGED is available May 9 at MarCon in Columbus, Ohio,
and May 12 (or thereabouts) from fine filk dealers everywhere.
$11 for cassette tape, $16 for CD. U.S. funds only, please.
Dealer inquiries are welcome; snail-mail to the address below, or
e-mail me at toms...@izzy.net or Leslie at llar...@umich.edu.
Mail-order from Pretzel Productions is also available; add $2.50
shipping & handling for the first tape or CD, plus .50 per each
additional. Send your check or money order to:
Pretzel Productions
2232 S. Main Street, #424
Ann Arbor, MI 48103
We also have copies of my first two, live, tapes (Who Let Him In Here?
and Domino Death). Just like above, $11. And, gods willing and the
creek don't rise, at MarCon we'll also have TOM SMITH'S BIG BOOK OF
STUPID FILK TRICKS, with every parody we could dredge up. (The book
of original songs is slated for later this year or early next year.)
Thanks very kindly. We now return you to your regularly scheduled
newsgroup.

I'm utterly unsure, O Mighty One. The first time I tried to
post, it simply didn't work. The second time, it almost worked,
'cause I got a notice from comp.sys.amiga.announce's bot, telling
me I wasn't posting correctly to that group. (So I didn't bother
with them the third time. Shrug.)

Didn't I make that clear? Silly me. Yes, of course, you can. I
think I put the shipping & handling, and Pretzel Productions's
address in there... and it's all on the web page.

Thanks. The best is yet to come. Trust me on this.

And you've been played on Shockwave.
Now, if only you'd done a dinosaur song, you would have been on last week,
along with Dr. Jane.

Okay with you if we just take those one at a time?
