Hey there,
Anyone out there happen to know what albums The Firesign Theater has
put out? (I hope I got their name right...) My sister has DEAR FRIENDS and I
THINK WE'RE ALL BOZOS ON THIS BUS and would be curious about any others.

Thanks!

I've picked up "Don't Crush that Dwarf, Hand Me the Pliers", "Everything you
Know is Wrong", and "The Giant Rat of Sumatra" a couple of weeks ago (at a
record swap....really cheap too!). I've also got "Nick Danger: The Case of
the Missing Shoe".

Another: All Hail Marx and Lenin (With a a picture of Groucho and John on the
cover) :-)

Anywho, they are a real pain to find around here. I'd suggest looking around
at record swaps in your area to find 'em.

Well, ironically, Dr. D just came on as I'm talking (KFOG).

Anyway, I believe another F.T. album title is: "Don't Crush
That Dwarf, Hand Me the Pliers".

And don't forget "How can you be in two places at once when you're not
anywhere at all" (This is the real title of the one that says 'all hail
marx and lenin' on the front.
My favorite is "don't crush that dwarf, hand me the pliers."
Then there's Proctor and Bergman's creations, such as "TV or not TV" which are
also very good....

These are the Firesign Theater records that I can remember (and have):

Don't Crush that Dwarf, Hand Me the Pliers
Featuring "High School Madness", starring Porgie Tirebiter

How Can You Be in Two Places at Once When You're Not Anywhere At All?
The national radio debut of "Nick Danger, Third Eye"

I Think We're All Bozos On This Bus
The FutureFair - A Fair for all and No Fair to Anybody
(note the MIT hacker lingo)

The Tale of the Giant Rat of Sumatra
The adventures of Hemlock Stones, the Great Defective

Not Insane (or Anything You'd Like to)
Live from the Papoon For President campaign trail

Waiting for the Electrician or Somebody Like Him
Civilization HO!

Everything You Know is Wrong
Aliens Invade Nudist Trailer Park!
Rebus Kenebus jumps into the biggest hole anyone has seen!

In the Next World You're On Your Own
Featuring "Police Street" and "Billy Jack Takes Hollywood"

Just Folks
Live from the Street Level Observation Dick

Dear Friends
Collection of the best of FS's radio shows - (double album)

Forward Into The Past
An anthology which contains some previously unreleased stuff
(double album)

Nick Danger and the Case of the Missing Shoe
Nick Danger's next dangerous case - (an EP)

Fighting Clowns
Ronnie's clowns go to WAR!

Shakespeares' Lost Comidie
A lost bit of the Bard

There are a couple more recent ones that I can't remember.

Also recommended:

TV or Not TV (Proctor and Bergman)
Give Us a Break (Proctor and Bergman)
Roller Maidens from Outer Space (Austin)
Time Flies [something] (Ossman)

Most of the FS Theater's catalog is still in print, (as much as any vinyl
is in print these days), so it should not be too difficult to find.

Many of the Firesign Theater albums are out on CD now, too. I have "Don't
Crush that Dwarf", "All Hail", "Nick Danger", "We're All Bozos" (and maybe
more, I can't remember for sure). There is also a fairly recent one which
is quite good: "Eat Or Be Eaten" (1987?).

Another couple - "Gas Music from Jupiter" and "Roller Maidens from Outer
Space". Ooops, almost forgot - "Everything You Know Is Wrong" and one
whose title escapes me - I have it on tape, and it's about a guy who gets
trapped in a computer game.

don't forget.....EAT OR BE EATEN! I've only heard it a couple of times, and not
recently, but as I recall it is about a guy who falls into a computer game.

My favorite FS bit is the sermonette on TV OR NOT TV which begins "let me scare
you with a little story..."

I always thought he was saying "you people are .sooo.. superstitious."

Anyway, has anywoon heard Proctor and Bergman on PBS's HEAT, with
John Hockenberry? Here in the Bay Area, it's on about 8:45 on Thursdays.
The piece is a soap opera called "POWER." Pretty funny...

Also, anyone seen Phil Proctor as the geek insurance spokesperson on
the geeky insurance ads by a geeky insurance company advertising on
geeky TV stations at geeky times? (I'm serious!)
Reminds me of 'that BP guy.' :-)

Oh yeah, that's POWER on HEAT on KQED FM, 88.5.

Well, the name of this one is actually "How Can You Be In Two Places At
Once, Without Really Being Anywhere At All". I think this one has a Nick
Danger: Third Eye script on it.

A While back, I picked up a very rare promotion-only Firesign Theatre album
from 1972. One side is "A Firesign Chat With Papoon (pre-election)" and
the other side is "A Firesign Chat With Papoon (post-election)". To my
knowlege, this material doesn't appear on any commercial album. But then
again, my discographic knowledge of FT isn't complete...

I'm trying to locate a comedy album, which I always thought was
the Firsign Theatre, but it could easily not be. The main thing
I remember is a piece about the dangers of V.D. which ended with
the classic words: "I didn't know that," "I wish *I* had." said in
these wonderful whiney nasal voices. Anyone have any ideas?

I think that was the Credibility Gap's album "A Great Gift Idea". The
whiny voice was, I believe, that of Michael McKean, who went on to both
lesser (as either Lenny or Squiggy on "Laverne and Shirley") and greater
things (as the voice of the chief weasel in "Roger Rabbit").
