The artist is Kip Attaway, and this song is on his "Hazardous Material
#4" cassette. All his stuff is available from him at PO Box 2667, Jackson,
WY 83001. Cassettes, CDs and Tee shirts are available. (And well worth
it, I might add. The AZ Republic review of his recent show here in
Phoenix said something like "Immensely talented Attaway avoids good taste
at all costs in rip-roaring show....totally devoid of political
correctness..")

That's a new one on me! The song is originally by Tim Cavanagh, who wrote
it. His version is on the 1982 album _Dr. Demento's Mementos_, which is
unfortunately out-of-print. This is the version I have always heard on the
Dr.'s show. Maybe he should play this new version.
First off, does anyone have a recording of this entire special back in
1989? I didn't know it would be on, so I didn't catch the beginning,
and only started taping at video #11... I would be very appreciative to
anyone who had a copy, and would be willing to trade several video
items I have from my video library (currently totals over 3,000
items...) or music video list (currently, over 1,200 videos...). I
would also REALLY, REALLY, REALLY, jump up and down and get all happy
if someone could provide me with a stereo copy... I just upgraded VCR's
this year from mono to stereo, and my old copy just isn't sounding as
good as the other tapes I've recently recorded... Plus, I have a
surround sound system... so the tape is just hard to listen to without
griping about technical things... but it is one of my favorite
videotapes from MTV ever... Mono is definately acceptable... I mean,
more than anything, I just want the entire thing... But, only if no one
has a stereo copy. Please reply if you have ANYTHING from this event...
Secondly, if anyone doesn't have a copy, and they would like one, of my
current copy of this special from #11 til the end, I would be more than
happy to make you a copy if you have something to trade, or wouldn't
mind paying a small fee...
Were there any other specials on MTV? To my knowledge, this was taped
in '89, and featured "Born In East L.A.", "Fish Heads", "The Curly
Shuffle", "Monster", "Love Without Anger", "All My Rowdy Friends", "The
Homecoming Queens Got A Gun" and a few others...
Again, if anyone could help me... I've been looking for a better copy
of this video for a long time, but I have a feeling I've been looking
in the wrong places, and that MAYBE someone here could finally help me.
Thanks a million in advance,
Jason Konarz (jko...@ix.netcom.com)

I don't have it, but it is available commercially. I saw it in a store
about two months ago. Come to think of it, I don't know why I didn't buy
it then. I settled for Casablanca.

One person posted that the 1989 countdown was available on a commercial
video. I really doubt it. I've never heard of that, and surely it would've
been mentioned in the Demented News, and would've been available through the
Society. Perhaps you're thinking of the "Dr. Demento 20th Anniversary
Collection" which is on video, but it not any of the three other programs.
It was made specifically for home video.
