Does anyone have any idea which album this could be? Or any other clue
about the Lennon parody?
And while we're speaking of Nat'l Lampoon, is there a soundtrack album
available for "National Lampoon's Vacation"?

Magical Misery Tour. I read somewhere that the lyrics entirely
comprise ghastly things that John Lennon had said at one time or
another. Can anyone confirm or refute this allegation??

Magical Misery Tour was on Radio Dinner, as was Deteriorata.
Colerado was on Lemmings. The only album which had all three to
my knowledge was The Greatest Hits of the National Lampoon.

This was a best-of (can't remember the title)...the original version of
"Magical Misery Tour" was on their 1st LP "Radio Dinner" on Banana Records,
1972(dist by BlueThumb/Dot/Paramount etc etc) Lennon was done by Tony
Hendra (Ian Faith in Spinal Tap,and occasionally seen arguing with some
lady onTV Food Network,I think he's now the editor of Spy magazine or
something)...the Yoko line was spoken by Melissa Manchester(who I guess was
a member for that oneLP, she has comedy lines as well as piano and singing
("Deteriorata" opens the LP) )
"Colorado", sung by Chevy Chase doing John Denver (I think) was on the
great "Lemmings" LP. This has KILLER Dylan and James Taylor impressions
courtesy of Chris Guest (Nigel!)
Pick up any NatLamp you can find, it's great stuff.

Oddly enough, I got it right here. This is a piece of a message from

On National Lampoon's GREATEST HITS album is a brilliant parody of
post-Beatles Lennon (when his songs were a bit wordier and a bit angrier)
called "Magical Misery Tour". I heard that the lyrics are composed of
actual quotes he made in interviews, but I'm not sure if this is true.
Anyway, these are the lyrics, as far as I can make out:
-------------------------------------------
I resent performing for you fuckers, tell me what do you know? a lot of
faggot middle class kids wearing long hair and trendy clothes - look, I'm
not your fucking parents and I'm sick of uptight hippies coming knocking
at me door with a fucking peace symbol, get ripped, fuck that, I don't
owe you fuckers anything and all I got to say is fuck you.
The sky is blue.
And Mick Jagger, I think that Mick's a joke, with all his stupid faggot
dancing. I always did. Wiggling his ass you know it's just a lot of
bullshit. And where does he come off saying all those tarty things about
the Beatles when every fucking thing we ever did Mick tried to copy and you
know we even wrote his second book and record for him - oh the Stones
aren't in the same fucking class as the Beatles, either music-wise or
power-wise and never ever were.
Pardon me sir.
Paul said he hated Yoko, tell me why should Yoko have to take that kind
of shit - shit from those fucking sons of bitches?
George said she gave off evil vibes, I should have beat the fucking shit
right out of him - him with his fucking hare krishna.
Me auntie, she tore up me fucking poems, she just threw the bastards out
- I can't forgive her cuz she didn't treat me like a fucking genius.
Look, you bastards I'm a genius, like Shakespeare and Beethoven and Van
Gogt... don't you dare criticize my work! "John married Yoko" was one of
the best fucking rock-and-roll records ever made. I'm a fucking artist!
I'm sensitive as shit! I throw up before I go on stage! I can make a
guitar speak! If I could be a fisherman I would, but I can't because I'm
a fucking genius! I was the walrus! Paul wasn't the walrus! I was just
saying that to be nice, but I was actually the walrus. You know that
rubbish he's been singing? Eastman was an animal!! A fucking stupid
middle-class pig!! I won't let fucking animals like that near me! Yoko
is a supreme intellectual. I'll tell you why nobody likes her music -
because she's a woman and she's Oriental, that's why! Where are you,
mother?! They're trying to crucify me!!!
Genius is pain!
Genius is pai-ai-ai-ain
Genius is pain!
Genius is pai-ai-ai-ain
Genius is pain! Aaahhhh! Oaughhh!
Genius is pai-ai-ai-ain
Genius is pain! Ohhh-aughh! Whoooaauugh! Aauughhh! Aauugh!
Genius is pain - oooh! Aughh! Aaauugh! Pain! Genius!
Auughhhaugghhhaughooah! aahh! Aaaahhhhhh! Aahh! Pain! Genius!
Pain! Aughh! Pain, genius! Yoko! Mother! Wak! Tom lives in Iceland!
Aahhhh! Aaughh! Ohhh, fuck! Fuck! Fuck! Aughhhhh! Aughhh! .....
(screams fade...)
(yoko's voice) The dream is over.

Well...I still have my LP version of it, but I don't know if it still is
available or is on CD. The soundtrack is on Warner Bros (and the Warner
Sister...oops...Animaniacs influence temporarily taking over) Records. ID
(?) = 1-23909
