Does anyone know where to get a copy of the hilarious medeival farting
contest recording done by Monty Python (I think) as played in 1973 or 74
on one of Dr. D's shows? I've been wanting to hear that again since
then!!!!!! Please E-mail me as I might not find my way back to this
bulletin board again (it's really late, have pity on me!). "And yes, the
second contestant is stepping up on the platform. He wearing a tan pair
of shorts with purple trim around the orifice...and there he goes...ah,
yes, a lovely triple tweeter...he's preparing for his second try..and here
it is...a DOUBLE CRESCENDO WITH...ooh...I'm sorry, he's frappled!!!!
Well, that is a pity! So, while the boys are cleaning up the stage,
we'll..." (VERY loose quote)

Wow! This one must be a legend; it keeps coming back! The bit had nothing
to do with Monty Python, originating (perhaps) with a Canadian group. It
was called something like The Crepidation Contest (don't bet on my
spelling) and appears on an LP that pops up quite frequently in used
record stores (saw one just last month).
Dr. D played it on syndicated show # 44, May 4, 1975 (there may have been
other times; I don't know) but did not identify the artist(s). Other rare
gems played AFAIK only on that show include My Mama Smoked Marijuana Last
Night by the Reapers and Big Bad Bruce by Steve Greenberg. Stuff of
Legends!

I think you can get this one through the E. F. Johnson Co.,
purveyors of such fine novelty items as pepper-flavored gum,
fake dog poop, etc. They have it on cassette and CD. Sorry I
haven't got the catalog in front of me, so I can't give the
phone number. The title was "The Great Contest"; it may be
a new recording of a routine that supposedly goes all the
way back to the days of '78's. (I've also seen it entitled
"The Great Crepitation Contest"; crepitation is defined as
the act of producing a rattling noise.)
