I saw weird Al when he came to Columbus, OH. It was a great concert.
Anyway, he sang part of a song that was a parody of Live and Let Die
("Chicken Pot Pie"). I'm not sure if "Chicken Pot Pie" is the title, but
it would make sense that it is. I have most of Weird Al's albums and have
checked with a couple of large music stores, and can not find this song
anywhere. Does anyone know if he released this song, or where it is?
I hadn't heard it before the concert, and would like to get a copy.
Please respond by e-mail, and to the newsgroup too if you wish.
Thank you for the help,
Jonathan Greene

He only does it in concert. It is not on any albums. Probably has
something to do with getting permission and such. He can do these parodys live
because he's not profitting off of them (although that's why I pay to see
him live...) individually. If he wants to make a profit, he needs
permission from the original writer (which is not always the singer). I do
not know of any intent to rlease it. Hope this helps.

The only way to get a copy of this song is to illegally record one of Al's
shows. (If anybody has done that, please email me.) The song is unreleased.
My guess is he coulnd't get permission for the parody. He played it last year
in the Food Medley along with "Snack All Night", a parody of Michael Jackson's
"Black Or White". This year he included "Green Eggs And Ham", a parody of U2's
"Numb".
Anybody remember the lyrics to "Chicken Pot Pie"? I only remember the last 2
lines...
the only thing that I like better than a corn beef on rye
is chicken pot pie!
He then pulled out a rubber chicken and clucked the music. :)

I remember something like "makes a really great liver pate..."
That's about it.

Actually, it's perfectly legal to record *parodies* of a song without
getting permission from whoever owns the rights. Weird Al has
just made it his own, *personal* policy to only record versions of songs
for which he's obtained permission.
Yes, thanks for clarifying that. It's legal to record parodies without
permission. It's not legal to sell them without. This was my point.
