I'd like to know if sheet music exists for the song "Chopping Broccoli" by
Dana Carvey, a former member of SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE. It was the craziest
song composed for a skit he was in with the host of that particular show,
Sigourney Weaver. He played a musician who was called in to play for the
music label execs what he had composed. It was evident he had composed
nothing, and was making everything up off the top of his head. This
particular song was the hands-down favorite of "stupidest yet funniest song
of the year." When I first saw this performed, I was rolling on the floor,
laughing hysterically, shaving convulsively.... you get the picture.

So -- does sheet music exist? I'd LOVE to see it!

Live long and perspire,

The skit on SNL was not the first time Carvey's used that song/routine.
I remember seeing him on A&E's Live at the Improv in about 1986 or 7 and
that was part of his routine. He's been dragging that around since his
hungry days.

I've never heard of this song, but I have a special interest in broccoli.
Could someone please E-mail me the lyrics to the song.

I kinda doubt there's sheet music...
I remember way back (1987?) when Dana used that in his stand-up routine -
the piano part was very simple...here are the lyrics I remember:

She's cold as ice / paradise / and the feeling was so nice

There's a lady that I know / if I didn't know her / she'd be the
lady I didn't know

My lady, she went downtown / she bought some broccoli / she brought
it home
She's choppin' broccoli
She's choppin' broccoli
etc.

I reply :
NO, as an aid to better SPELLING. You could at least spell the things that
you're good at !

He didn't write this song for the skit. He had been doing this skit as part
of his live act long before he was on SNL.

It's not a very complex song. It's only four chords. Give it a shot, a should
be able to figure it out by ear...
