I'm now listening to a copy of "Songs By Tom Lehrer"...
It's a studio recording of Tom Lehrer singing the same songs that he did in
concert on "Tom Lehrer Revisited" [or was it "More Tom Lehrer???"
Anyway...the liner notes say that this album is a rerecording [it's on
Reprise Records], but yet it fails to say when the rerecording was made. It
lists a copyright date of "1952, 1953", but I know this wasn't a "1952, 1953"
recording because #1) it's on Reprise and not Lehrer Records, and #2) some of
the songs are in stereo.
COuld someone clear this weird occurrence up for me?? Which album should I
pair this up with when I make the tape dub???

No, Revisited is correct. More Of was a studio recording of An Evening
Wasted With.

It was made in 1966. After releasing the That Was The Year That Was LP, and
having a good deal of success with it (if memory serves, it was a #17 album
on Billboard), then Reprise decided to release his older works. So they
first reissued An Evening Wasted (in fake stereo for some still unexplained
reason), and then went for Songs By. However, they weren't satisfied with
the technical quality of his original mono 1953 recording, so they had him
come in and re-record the album. During the process, Tom changed several
lines in the songs. (Check the LYRICS:LEHRER.DIFF file for more info on
this.) Later, he regretted both re-recording it and changing the lines.
Thus, the album is no longer available, and we have Revisited in its stead,
which is a lot better IMHO.

They are all in stereo. The original publishing date on most of the songs
was 1952 & 1953.

I don't know - what is the theme of your tape dub?
