I want to ask a few questions about a capella singing group Acme Vocals:

1)Are they just a local group from the Chicago area?

2)If not does anyone know if they have anything out on record (figuratively
speaking in the digital age, of course)? Or do they still just do comedy clubs
so far?

3)If the answer to 2) is the latter, why? I've only heard mere bits of two
songs they do, and at the time they sounded pretty straightforward. However,
I am under the impression that they are 50% song/50% comedy, thus their fre-
quent appearance at stand-up clubs and various comedy events. Or is the
musical performance itself generally full of hyuks?? Simply put, is Acme
Vocals similar to the Bobs, the other a capella groups full of schtick??

I look forward to your responses.

1) They were based in Chicago but toured throughout the US and internationally.
2) There were cassettes released. If you google Acme Vocals, someone posted their cassette on you tube
3) My take is there are a music group with a great live act. They were mostly actors (mostly) with a couple of singers who were only singers, but to stand up on stage and just sing is what a lot of choirs do, and this group was much more successful than a choir.

Hope that helps
