Liberty Bell from the federal government in Philadelphia in order to
reduce the federal budget. Actually, the Liberty Bell is owned by the

In 1954, 50 years ago, "Here's Wallace!" (later renamed "The Wallace and
Ladmo Show") debuted on KPHO-TV in Phoenix, AZ...it ran daily until
1989...officially a kid's show, it became a cult favorite for a lot
of parents and even childless adults who loved the subversive sense
of humor and wacky cast of supporting characters...on the 30th
anniversary show, audience member Alice Cooper even won a Ladmo bag.
In 1957, all of Great Britain was fooled this April Fool's Day by
England's famous newscaster, Richard Dimbleby. The newscaster,
wrapping up the day's news on "Panorama", the BBC's current affairs
program, reported about the "spring spaghetti crop in Italy." The
filmed report showed the spaghetti (some ten pounds of the stuff)
being picked from a tree. Many Brits believed him, by Jove! One
member of our staff remembers doing something similar by asking radio
listeners to "send us $100 and we'll send you 25 words or less." He
was fired. No foolin'!
In 1960, "The Lucy-Desi Comedy Hour", TV Comedy, last aired on CBS.

In 1979, 25 years ago, "Nickelodeon Network" (originally called
"Pinwheel") cable TV network debut. They would later bring us Ren
and Stimpy, You Can't Do That On Television, Clarissa Explains It

In 1990, "Ha!" the comedy Channel on cable TV was launched.
In 1991, Comedy Central was launched by combining the Comedy Channel
with HA!
In 1994, 10 years ago, Kermit The Frog hosted Larry King Live On CNN.
In 1996, Doubleday publishes "Dennis Miller: The Rants," the first
collection of monologues from HBO's "Dennis Miller Live." Of course,
that's just my research ... I could be wrong.
In 1998, on "South Park", Eric Cartman's father is revealed...APRIL
FOOL! It's the "Terrence and Phillip Show" with an appearance by
"Celine Dion".
In 2000, "Boomerang" cable channel was launched as a boomer version of
Cartoon Network,
In 2000, Turner Broadcasting System launched a second cable television
channel featuring 24-hours of cartoons, "Boomerang." Cartoon Network
will then focus on airing original cartoons, while Boomerang will
feature cartoons from the company's Hanna-Barbera library.
