Subject: OLDIES AND ODDITIES 3rd ANNIVERSARY SHOW

Howdy everyone,

Today we celebrated our third year anniversary! Since 1999 we have been
broadcasting in San Diego county and Temecula Valley, only the best oldies,
cool and strange albums, funny novelty songs, and musical madness. When we
first signed on back in '99 we were known as "Oldies But Goodies", we played
your standard oldies that you hear on those "Good Time, Great Oldies"
stations. But I kinda got tired of playing standards and began incorporating
songs you don't normally hear on those stations, even tho some of em were
hits. When I ran for a seat on the Oceanside City Council the show went on a
little hiatus. When I returned I began the process of resurrecting the show
again. I went through several co-hosts but a girl who joined the station
asked me if she could join the show, her name was Jen Ernest. We began to
play several funny songs, lounge/exotica, and high school band recordings.
And now we are here on our 3rd year and going strong. With webstreaming on
the horizon, there seems to be no end in sight.

On today's show we welcomed special guest callers Tony Goldmark, Kathi Kamen
Goldmark, John Cougarstein, and The Great Luke Ski. We also got e-mail from
past co-hosts (including Jen). We also played some identifiers from past
guests. And we payed tribute to the day the music died.

The show was recorded. And will be distributed to those artists who requested
a copy.

-------------------------------PROGRAM
NOTES-----------------------------------------------
- "Snoopy vs. The Red Baron" was the first record I ever got. It given to me
at Christmas time when I was five years old. I got hooked and started
collecting records ever since.
- William Shatner's rendition of Elton John's "Rocket Man" was recorded live
at the American Science Fiction Awards
- "High Noon" by Walter Brennan is taken from the "Gunfight at the OK Corral"
album. Just one of ten albums Brennan put out after his Top Ten hit "Old
Rivers"
-"Reach Out (I'll Be There)" by Bill Cosby can be found on his album "Hooray
for the Salvation Army Band". One of four Bill Cosby sings album.
-"Look at This Tub" can be found on the album "The Bathrooms Are Coming!"
which was made by American Standards, they make your tubs, urinals, sinks,
etc. It was only released to people who attended one of their conventions.
The whole album is a musical about bathrooms
- "A Tribute to Buddy Holly" was produced by Joe Meek. Meek went to a tarot
seance where the psychic predicted Buddy Holly's death on Feb 3rd, 1958. When
the date passed and nothing happened, Meek told Holly about it. In 1959 on
Feb 3, Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, and The Big Bopper died in a plane crash
over Clear Lake, Iowa. Meek produced this single to make sure Holly's music
lived on. He even gained approval from the Buddy Holly Appreciation Society,
who listened to it before it was released.
-The all-star lineup of "Wichita Lineman" consists of Glen Campbell, Michelle
Shocked, and Freddy Fender on vocals, Doug Sahm on guitar, Flaco Jiminez on
accordian, Augie Meyers on organ, Sheila E on drums, and Mariachi Del Sol
backing them up.
