Can anyone tell me who did this song? The lyric fragments I have are:

Swingleheimer Swingleheimer Swingle Swingleheimer
Swingleheimer Swingleheimer Swingle Swingleheimer
The more you Swingle the less you heimer
The more you heimer the less you Swingle
Swingleheimer Swingleheimer Swingle Swingleheimer

My guess is its from a comedy album in the 1960's that makes fun of the
Swingle Singers.

Thanks, it's driving me nuts.

Wayne

Please respond to the group and my email.

Dunno about Swingle (btw one of Ward Swingle's 70s-80s groups did some
wayout, almost demented neo-classical vocal music) but this is almost
exactly "Fingleheimer" by Bob McAllister, from the NYC kiddie TV show
"Wonderama", written by McAllister and the great Joe Raposo, from a
1969 Buddah LP soundtrack to Wonderama. Substitute Fingle for Swingle
and that's it....His character was Professor Fingleheimer and he had a
computer that could answer any question (with a punchline of course)

And of course, another song from that Wonderama LP ("Youre a
Kinkajou") is covered by none other than POWER SALAD on the new CD!!!
www.powersalad.com :-)

Hope that helps....

Hi Chris,

Thanks so much for the answer. You've hit the nail on the head. I was
living in north New Jersey at the time and now that I'm prompted by your
response, I remember seeing the show. I've had that song rattling around
inside the old noggin for thirty years so it sure is nice to be able to name
it.

Thanks to Chris, I now have the spelling of the song right, and have found
an excellent site dedicated to Bob McAllister's Wonderama at:
http://www.tvparty.com/lostwonder.html

The song, the Fingleheimer Stomp, is on an album called "Kids Are People
Too". The copyright date is 1971 and it was on Roulette Records. Chris'
band, Power Salad, covers the song "You're a Kinkajou" from a 1969 Wonderama
soundtrack from Buddha records.

If anyone knows of a place to buy these albums, please let me know. I
haven't had any luck at all on ebay, amazon.com, or other record sales
sites. I'd also be interested in getting an audio clip of the Fingleheimer
Stomp if anyone is feeling generous enough to send me a clip or a link.

Take it easy,

Wayne

Here's another album title that has the Fingleheimer Stomp song, and here is
a copy of the lyrics:

"Does Anyone Here Have An Aardvark?"

Does anyone here have an aardvark?
Does anyone here have an aardvark?
Everybody here has a right and left ear!
But nobody here has an aardvark!
Fingleheimer, Fingleheimer, Fingle Fingleheimer.
Fingleheimer, Fingleheimer, Fingle Fingleheimer.
The more you fingle, the less you heimer!
The less you heimer, the more you fingle!
Fingleheimer, Fingleheimer, Fingle, Fingleheimer.

I don't have the 1971 Roulette LP but "Aardvark" opens the 1969 Buddah
LP as well, if memory serves "Fingleheimer" is the 2nd track. (perhaps
he rerecorded some of the older tunes for the Roulette LP and added
new ones)

The TVParty site is HIGHLY recommended for ALL TV fans. As is my Power
Salad CD (D'oh!).... :-)
