But going back over the "math" you are right.
It had to be around 1958 - 1960.

Was this the "Cha-Cha-Cha" version that began "Hang down your head Thomas
Dooley..."?
I remember hearing it way back when, but have no idea who did it.

There is a parody called Tom Doolivich (sp?) by the Castlemen. I had the 45
but lost it in a fire 25 years ago :(
