There is a song that was popular on Dr. Demento a couple of years ago
(when I was last able to listen regularly in the northern NYC suburbs),
called "White Collar Holler" the chorus of which was:

Well it's oh boys, can't you code it - uh,
program it right.
Nothing ever happens in this life of mine,
I'm hauling up the data on the xerox line.

I suspect that "I'm hauling up ......on the .... line." are original
words to some song, somewhere.

Can anyone tell me what this song is a parody of? Please email me, and
I'll summarize. Most people who I've sang the chorus to tell me that
they think that they have heard the song before but can't remember the
name. If you really think you might know it but need to hear me sing it
(woe be unto you) before you are sure then call me collect (from US or
Canada) at (914) 784-7033.

White Collar Holler is on Stan Rogers' album "Between the Breaks, Live!".
I don't think that it's a parody of any one song, rather it's modeled
on a class of acapella chants called "Field Hollers."

The song was written by Nigel Russel, according to my notes. The version
I have is copyright 1979 by Stan Rogers, Fogerty's Cove Music.

On the contrary. It sounds just like the old railroad work song that goes
Ho, boys, can't you line em---uh
Ho, boys, can't you line em
That's all I hate about linin't the track
Singing this ol' hammer 'bout to break my back

Sounds like it to me.
