This has been discussed before, but I think it needs to be updated.

Here's my three, in no particular order:

1. 'The Shake' -- Neil McCoy
2. 'There I Did It' -- Blackhawk
3. 'That Don't Impress Me' -- Shania Twain

Number 3 should get special recognition as being the most annoying, most
making you want to smash the radio, song ever. This is kinda a b-side on
her new album -- listen to it if you get a chance.

As horrible as you say that song is and you still want us to listen to
it? How about if we just take your word for it and leave it at that?

That's like tasting some food and saying "Damn this stuff is nasty.....
here, taste it!"

No thanks!

That's clearly a song that should have been deleted from Shania's
latest. When you already have 15 songs, I don't see the need to
include filler. It was that song that made me wonder just who the
album was supposed to be for. I was sitting in TCBY, and the next
table over had a mom and four girls between the ages of 8 and 12.
They were singing "Honey, I'm Home" and REALLY getting into it. I
think they might like "That Don't Impress Me Much."

But the #1 worst of the 90s is still..."Butterfly Kisses!"

Go ahead and put Achy Breaky heart down. There isn't a damn oine of you
who wouldn't have loved to had the initial recording of that song and
wrote it too. Do you realize how much that song made. No its no

Worst Country Song of the 90's.....well, so far nobody's mentioned a "COUNTRY"
song.

I'd have to say the worst "COUNTRY" song of the 90's is "Achy Breaky Heart."
Not only is it a bad "country" song, it is a bad one of those. And, as if it
needs another reason, it was overplayed, and overplayed, and overplayed,
overplayed, and overplayed, and overplayed, overplayed, and overplayed, and

That's like saying the song, "I Write the Songs", sung my Barry Manilow,
written by Bruce Johnson of the Beach Boys, is really great because it sold
billions. Or perhaps, "Feelings?" Get my drift?

Achy Breaky reminds me of the horrible 60's pop/barfs like "Yummy, Yummy,
Yummy, I Got Love in My Tummy." Horrible.

How can you like his stage show? Chippendales all the way.

Oh boy, this list is getting great. Let me add some more:

Anything and everything by Blackhawk
For A Change - Neal McCoy -- Also gets the award for the worst country video
ever
Then What - Clay Walker

I have to add this one, don't hate me for it--
When You Say Nothing At All - Alison Krauss

I add that beacuse I think it did an injustice to the late Keith Whitley,
his version is beyond description. Since his death the song has taken on a
sort of eerie or ghostley feeling that makes it all the more enjoyable.
Since Alison's version was released people seem to have forgotten about
Keith's.

That may be unfortunate for Keith Whitley fans, but I think Alison

The only redeeming value to "Trashy Women" is it came off as a
song parody to a lot of people. Seen in that light, I think it's
kind of funny.

wow, wow, thats so weird - IMO, "The Shake" is Neil McCoy's best song, "There
You Have It" is terrific, and "That Don't Impress Me Much" is a great song, and
about 10 times better than "Honey I'm Home" (how could Shania release that?!)

Not bad, I guess..has a good tune and a *nice* message. It's just so OVERDONE.
Lugubrious is the word that comes to mind. It shouts "Look at me! I'm a
sensitive, compassionate person!" Really sensitive compassionate people have
no desire to talk about it--insensitive louts have no desire to change. ( I
get the same feeling when I hear Garth sometimes.) The compassion just seems
misplaced and overstated.

Message? Sure. Waaay back when, I listened to Bob Dylan for a message. I
guess I don't listen to CW for a *message*. I also can't see anyone singin
along with this one.

But it's OK. You have my persmission to like it :=)

Ah well, maybe so, maybe so...but to be honest i rather enjoyed those songs

You know, I must be the odd banana in the bunch, 'cause I can't think of one
song that I dislike so much as to even say "it sucks!" let alone nominate it
for the "Worst Country Song of the 90's." Hmm. I like pretty much
everything my three favorite stations play. Of course, there are times when
any radio station is guilty of playing a song to death (like my favorite
station is currently doing to "We Really Shouldn't Be Doing This" by George
Strait) but I still like the song. Guess I'm just strange! :-)

Chene Beck needs to take spelling classes, as well as etiquette and music

*chuckle* Judging by your attitude, I'd guess you're about 12. Going by that,
the chicks were "discovered" just a little after you were born, kiddo! Martie
and Emily have been playing together for about 10 years now, and they had two
other lead singers and three albums prior to the release of "Wide Open Spaces"

bluegrass and western swing than I am into HNC).

Is there more than one song called "Butterfly Kisses"? The one I've listened
to is on the "Butterfly Kisses & Bedtime Prayers" kids CD. It sounds really
good to my ears. Talk about separate universes! Admittedly, I can't quite
visualize butterfly kisses but the music and lyrics sound good.

You're right...The Tractors, aren't country. They are a hybrid of country,
rockabilly, soul, dixieland jazz, western swing, and mississippi delta blues.
However neither Alan Jackson & Clint Black have released a decent album in 4
years. The real country artists are Randy Travis, and Mark Chesnutt, along with
the other great artists like Don Williams, George Jones, Merle Haggard, Johnny
Cash, Tom T. Hall,Willie Nelson, and Waylon Jennings are still recording great
country albums.

I agree that a cowboy hat doesn't make a singer country. But McGraw is as
country as they come. When he sings "I'm from a map-dot," it's the truth.
He's from the country and he likes it that way. Those of us who grew up in
the country know that there are many levels to country life. It's not all
cry-in-your-beer. There's redneck country. There's stomping country.
McGraw comes from the same side of country as Charlie Daniels. So does
Travis Tritt. It ain't always Hank Williams, but it's country.

I would also say that the arrangements of Tim's music is no less country
than the arrangements of Lila McCann's I Wanna Fall in Love of Yippie Kai
Yo. And we all know how big a Lila fan you are.

Okay .. Garth fans... brace yourself... ..I am going to defend him again !!

IF that had any truth to it.. It would of been on more than just one
thing.... Garth would of come forward and said something ... He had proven
himself there ...when he admited to the world that he was unfaithful !
A disc jockey here, who is also is a manager for a top country act said on
the air many years ago that Aaron Tippin, cheats on his wife and he beats
her... Just because he said this make it true :?? Well, for one.. at the
time he said this Aaron wasn't married.. not sure if he and Thea were even
dating at that time.. This was back in early 92.
I pointed this out to the clown that said this... and I asked him where the
proof was on this... messing around and abuse... He made it up !!
You see .... people will make up things about someone to make them look bad
and instead of the world asking questions they assume that its true....
Now did NBC whom is one of Garths biggest supporters offer any proof ?? If
so ...what is it and where is it ???
In a court of law... this is hearsay .... It won't and doesn't stand !

I edited a country music magazine from 1992-95 and during that time I
followed *every* news item that had anything to do with a country artist
(and as a result know all kind of useless facts, like who dated who
before they married you-know-who.) I am absolutely sure that if there
had been an item like this, I would have heard it and checked it out.
One of my writers is good friends with Garth and talks to him every time
he comes to town - and Garth comes here a lot. I think Dennis has Garth
confused with another artist.

CB, I never said that Lila was "country" -- she's about as HNC as they come...
I just happen to enjoy her music. However, if you will go back and read the
original post, this person was making judgement calls such as how LeAnn Rimes
and Toby Keith were not country, but Tim McGraw is -- I was doing nothing more
than reversing the scenario.

To tell the truth, I couldn't agree with you more. I was just playing Devil's
Advocate (though I've been told at times that people think the devil is playing
James' Advocate). ;)

One last thing, though -- you said that Tim McGraw was from the same side of
country music that Charlie Daniels is from...... I can't agree with this --
Charlie Daniels has always been more on the Southern Rock end of things, while
Tim McGraw has been pretty well pure HNC, stylistically speaking.
