just wondering who is singing the back up vocals. for some reason it sounds
sorta like Kathy Mattea, but im probably way off. can anyone help me out here?

Katie, I assume you are talking about the hit version by Tanya Tucker, right?

The song was written by Don Schlitz and Beth Nielsen Chapman.

It is Beth who sings the harmony on this great #1 hit for Tanya.

Beth has also written or cowritten these country hits: "Here We Are"
(Alabama), "Down On My Knees" (Trisha Yearwood) and "This Kiss" (Faith Hill).
She has sang harmony or background on albums by Kathy Mattea and Suzy Bogguss.
Her last album, "Sand And Water" was produced by country legend Rodney Crowell
and contains the original version of "Happy Girl" which was a hit for Martina
McBride.
