WOW !!!!!!!!!!

That says it all for the weekend...LOL !!!!

Okay .. we arrived in Kingsville on Thursday ... We had a great time they
had a Ranch Rodeo for us with a "Cowboy Dinner" .. that was fun ..but we
headed out early and hit "THE" night club.. Country Luau... and partied unit
closing time...

On Friday ... We got to the ropeing .. George Came out and spoke to the
crowd and watch majority of the ropeing from the upstairs area... I got
several shots of him watching and having a good time..

He roped with Bubba and He had missed.. George is the header and Bubba is
the heeler.... George missed big time.. LOL
Then he roped two other times and they did rather well... His last ropeing
put him in the second round which we missed... due to the fact we had other
things to do ....
In the second round he missed... So they didn't advance on Thursday !

On Friday night ...went to the Fan Appreciation Reunion at the Navel Base
and I WON BACKSTAGE PASSES !!!!!!!!

Saturday Morning ...we went back to the Ropeing ... and watched them rope
then George came down to hand out the awards... and we had a great time with
him there... it was so funny .. George was getting tickled at the young
girls calling out his name.. he was rather playful during that time ....
There was about a half dozen of us and we yelled for Buddy and we got him
laughing .. felt we had to give him something ! LOL!!!

Saturday Night... I watched Asleep At The Wheel from the backstage side
area... we had be ready for George.. AATW was GREAT .... True Texas Swing
Music there !!!!!!
Then it was time to go backstage... I walked in and there was this great
looking cowboy in a white cowboy hat... denim shirt and stone washed relaxed
wranglers... (they weren't his usual jeans)
and it was George.... He was so friendly ... we got to talk while he signed
autographs.. I bought an extra Always Never The Same at Wal-Mart in
Kingsville for that ... He personalized the cover !!!!!!!
YES !!!! Got my picture took and I was trying to fiqure out how to run out
of there with him ....

He got on stage and put on an awesome show... I always thought the best show
he ever did was in his hometown of San Antonio and it was in Kingsville...
he was more relaxed .... playful ... happy George... He was GREAT !!!!!!

The only disappointment of that evening was .... he didn't do Amarillo By
Morning .. which stunned me.... I never thought I would see the day that he
didn't do that one song.... He did alot of his newer music from the past 6
years ..... He did some old music..but not much... and he also did "Lying
Here With Linda On My Mind"...
"Mamma Tried"..... "Take Me Back To Tulsa" ...being in Texas those were
received very well .. the crowd went crazy...but some did leave very upset
that he didn't do more of his older music...
I didn't seem to mind..as long as its George up there !!!!!!

Now that I am home with my digital camera... I have get my photography
program out and go through my pics.. and the one of him and me will become
my screen saver.. I may get a divorce before its all over with .. but
Richard, will have to deal with George and His wife on the computer for
awhile !!!!!! LOL !!!!!!

When I called home to tell Richard that I won backstage passes.. He told
me.. I better ... not get thrown in jail ... or he would just leave me there
.. he would bail me out for everything else but, for getting into trouble
because I couldn't behave myself around GS !!

That was my weekend.. and I am sure I have more to say..but I right now my
mind is going about a million miles an hour and I want to look at pics to
decide which ones I am going to send out on ICQ and email to everyone
!!!!!!!!!

that when I get on AOL to the George Strait message board I will read
more... but none of them will have won backstage passes!!! Hope the
pictures turned out.

Here is the review I put on the AOL board...that was you, Barbara? I saw that
lady win the backstage passes. That was you? cool.
<<Weeeeeelllllllllllllllll.............GEORGE WAS AWESOME~!!!!!!!
The following is an account of George in Kingsville, Texas at the 17th Annual
George Strait Team Roping Classic: brought to you by your resident Strait Hair
admirer.

Friday:
The first round of the roping.....Oh, first I need to tell you all that George
was wearing different Wranglers! They didn't have the Wrangler patch or the 'W'
stich on the pocket ....they were plain pocket Wranglers! I noticed that Bubba,
Trey and Walker wear the same ones. And, of course, this fascinated me....for
no particular reason.....mainly because the 'ol Wrangler patch wasn't there!
They looked most
wonderful on him, though.
The first day he had a light colored shirt, white hat.
I know some people freak out about this, but the man was chewing his
Coppenhagen and spitting in a plastic cup! I saw him take his can out of his
back pocket and stick some in his chops. Of course, I thought this was the
neatest thing in the world! (yes, you may call me a freak). He just looked cute
sitting up by the scorers booth with Bubba spitting into a cup. Oh, and Norma
looked fabulous! She got her hair cut really short and it looked just like
Faith Hill's short hair-do. She looked like a hot little mama!
George's first run of the first round was with George Jr. They got a really
fast steer and that sucker took off down the arena. George missed the head
loop, so they got a no time.
Next, he roped with Bret "Easy, Grasshopper" Beach. Awesome run! George roped
that steer like a pro and Bret finished it up perfectly. So, George and Bret
qualified for the 2nd round with this great run. On his 3rd run....I forgot who
he was paired with...I think it was Tom Bill Johnson (or was it T.J.
Williams?)...this run was even better! Just perfect! So, George qualified for 2
runs in the second round with these fellas. (Each team with a score of
12 seconds and better got to go on to the 2nd round) After all the teams had
roped in the first round, they went on to the second round and George missed
his head loop on both runs. : ( The steer on both runs ran like heck out of
the gate and he had to chase those bad boys down, but his loop just missed both
times. The man is very good, though. He certainly knows what he is doing. And I
guess it doesn't help that he has hundreds of flashbulbs going
off as he is trying to rope them horns.

Saturday:
The roping finals. George sat and watched the whole thing sitting in a chair up
by the announcers booth...with Norma and Bubba and some others. It was a very
exciting ending! Jake Barnes and John Paul Lucero won it with a fantastic last
run. It was a great roping!! They had the awards presentation and the Chevy
trucks and Bruton horse trailers that Jake and John Paul won were just
gorgeous. George and Buddy were
being interviewed and everybody in the crowd was yelling "George!!" and he was
laughing at his crazy fans.
The whole Strait clan had their picture taken and after a couple more shouts of
"George!", a guy yelled "Norma!" and everybody started laughing. And then after
that..shouts of "Bubba", "Trey" and "Walker" rang out. It was funny. They were
giggling and waving.
Ok....so the roping is over....it is now time for.............KING CROONINATOR
IN CONCERT!

Saturday night concert:

WOW!!! WOW!!! WOW!!! The man comes bounding up the back stairs to the sounds of
"Deep In The Heart Of Texas" in LIGHT BLUE WRANGLERS! (the plain pocketed
ones!) His shirt had little white and blue checks on it.Making it look blue.
He looked WONDERFUL!! I mean, beyond wonderful! His green eyes just sparkled
under the lights!

Here is the playlist:
There Stands the Glass
Check Yes or No
When Did You Stop Loving Me
Heartland
Carried Away

Take Me Back To Tulsa

MilkCow Blues
We Really Shouldn't Be Doing This
Maria
I Just Wanna Dance With You
That's Where I Wanna Take Our Love ---- Oh god! I can still see his face
singing this song....in fact, I am picturing it right at this very moment!
Always Never The Same
One Night At A Time
Cherokee Maiden
Linda on my Mind
Mama Tried
Peace of Mind
What Do You Say To That
Write This Down
I Can Still Make Cheyenne
Blue Clear Sky
Meanwhile
Lead On
I Cross My Heart
Unwound
Big Balls in Cowtown
The Cowboy Rides Away

I seriously think they forgot to play Amarillo By Morning....because they
skipped over Carrying Your Love and Amarillo is usually between Carrying and
Today My World Slipped Away and he didn't sing those two. Isn't that goofy? I
was waiting to take a couple pictures of the lighted Resistol brim.....(and
save the rest for some hatless wonder shots!) --- so, that was kinda strange
not hearing "Amarillo".
One thing I noticed at this concert was that the crowd was singing along with
George very LOUDLY! It was soooooooo great! Especially during "Write This Down"
.....he had a grin ear to ear!! What a smile! He was ALL smiles Saturday night.
It was hotter than heck in there and the poor guy was sweating to death. The
back of his shirt was soaked and the front of his shirt where his guitar sits
was drenched too. He looked just too darn cute!
It was a great concert and he sounded like a million bucks! The way he belted
out "Always Never The Same" and "Meanwhile"......oh mercy! The facial
expressions and emotion he put into these songs was just breathtaking. swoon,
swoon, swoon!
A group from Brazil held up a big sign that said "George, we love you more each
time we look at you!" (quoting the fabulous "I Look At You" tune, of course!)
He pointed to it and smiled that beautiful smile.
It was a great concert!! The man was hot as a pistol!

Huh? I meant to say that I was at that fan club get together at the Naval Base
and I saw the lady that won the backstage passes and I asked if that was you. I
wasn't asking if you were on AOL or not.
