Call and request Chely's NEW single "I Already Do"
How old is he? This sounds like pedophilia to me.
No? Well suppose Randy Travis asked a 17-year-old girl to go to the
prom? Oh, wait, sorry. Wrong sex.

He is of age- 18

Where can I get me a Dave Showalter costume!

I think Stella is really upset because Chely and the high-school kid aren't
first cousins.
For a country artist, going to the prom with a high schooler is one of
the ten things you do for last-gasp promotional impact, before your
career totally tubes. Here's the full list...
10. Go to a NASCAR race and work in the pits.
9. Go on Prime Time Country and give Gary Chapman a farm animal.
8. Record a warmer, fuzzier version of "Butterfly Kisses."
7. Go to the prom with a high schooler.
6. Go to as many celebrity basketball games as you can. Stand near the
cameras.
5. Try to get on a conversation with Burt Reynolds. Try to stay awake.
4. Change into a bigger cowboy hat that covers your ears.
3. Get a new fan club president who will listen to your records.
2. Invite radio program directors to your house and let them rummage
around.
1. Go on a country music cruise. When the drunk fans pound on your
door at 3 a.m., let them in and play them a tune.
Stella
Funny stuff! Unfortunately, 1,2 and three were your weakest.
You're all mixed up...see, HE asked HER. Pedophilia would be the other
way around...the way you had Randy and the fictional 17-year old. Get it
straight before you make snide comments, eh? :-)
Josh
I'm an expert on pedophiles, Josh, having grown up with a practicing
one in my house. It really doesn't matter who invites whom.
If Mary Kay Latourneau is a pedophile (and I think she may be), does it
matter whether her little boyfriend invited her into the car or she
invited him?
Trix are for kids. Proms are for kids. What if one of the girls at the
school decided to invite her 45-year-old uncle? Wouldn't that kinda be
a bring-down for the other kids?
If I was the principal of this school, I'd tell Chely Wright to pack up
her PR and go home.

What if she did? Would the principal tell her that she was making another
bad analogy? Chely Wright isn't 45, and isn't the student's aunt. She's
a pop star, and likely the object of affection and admiration of other
students at the school. Whether or not it's a publicity stunt, the student,
and others at the prom, will remember the evening very fondly. The problem
of pedophilia is something that you've brought to the party for yourself.

You wouldn't think so if you or your child was the victim of a
pedophile.
If Chely Wright wants to perform at a prom, no problem. But why does
she have to be some child's date?
Stella
I really wish this garbage talk would stop. I don't think that anyone in
their right mind would have even considered that Chely is a 'pedophile' for
going to a high-school prom with an 18 year-old MAN. What if Davey Jones
had gone with Marsha Brady? Would he be a pedo too?
I really don't see any harm in a star showing a little fan appreciation,
whether it is to gain popularity or not.

Because this 18-year-old young man asked her to go?
P.
Ask yourself why Chely Wright didn't just agree to show up at the prom
and sing a song or two for this boy and his class.
This would have had no PR value. People would have said: "Chely's
scraping bottom now. She's singing at high school proms."
Like many other country women thrown on the scrap heap, Chely needs a
PR stunt to keep from sinking out of sight.
Having an older woman be a high school kid's prom date is tittilating.
Don't kid yourself. If the Mary Kay Latourneau story weren't so red hot
right now, Chely wouldn't be doing this particular PR stunt.
Chely is using these kids' prom to further her PR needs. She is
therefore abusing children.
Use is abuse.

Because she wasn't invited to perform - she was invited to go as this
young man's prom date?
As another poster has already pointed out, Marcia Brady was too busy
trying to line up Davy Jones for her to snag Chely Wright.
Gosh, lighten up folks. It sounds like a lot of fun to me. And certainly an
unforgettable evening will be experienced by all.
It's all in fun. Life is not so serious. It is OK to have some fun once in a
while too.
What exactly is the agenda, Stella? What is the obsession with innocent
people's sex lives? Or just catharsis for your own?

It's a new art form made possible by Usenet. It's like the Jerry
Springer show, only challenges run deeper and punches always land in
the air.
I'm an artist. Like all great artists, I aim to be the best in the
world at what I do.

Good lord, Stella. They're going to dance, not go have sex in the broom
closet! Innocent publicity stunt....

The image to keep in mind is a fisherman trolling along slowly with his
bait trailing behind.
Hook. Line. Sinker.
Is anyone surprised?

Just saw Richie Cunningham last night where he "won" a date to his
prom with Cheryl Ladd. Of course she brought her photographer along
for some publicity shots.
Is this what you're talking about?
Trip
BTW, will someone tell me what Lari White is susposed to have done?
Yes, the difference is that when that episode of "Happy Days" was made,
we had different attitudes about child abuse. Back then, we didn't
believe in empowering children, as we do now.
If Richie invited Cheryl Ladd to the prom, then Fonsie had a right to
speak up and say: "I object. This is our prom, not hers. If you can
bring Cheryl, then I will bring Linda Lovelace. And if Cheryl dances
with you, then Linda can deep-XXX me."
If Fonsie had protested like that then, he would've got permanently
expelled.
If he protested like that now, he would be a hero to all children and
child-rights activists. It's people like John Bradshaw and me who are
helping to bring about this change by empowering children. We believe
children should not let grown-ups push them around. Our slogan is:
"Call 911 and get a file going on your folks!"
