I recently purchased Lonestar's debut album, entitled "Lonestar", and it's left me slightly confused. The lyrics for "No News" that are aired on radio and for the video aren't the same as the ones on the album itself. There is a line that says "joined the
boys, joined the band" on radio and video, but on the CD it says "joined a cult, joined the klan". Am I imagining these lyrics, or is there in fact an inconsistency? If anyone out there has the album and could confirm or disqualify my statements, please d
o so. Thanks ever so much. By the way, I've only recently found this newsgroup, and it's quite interesting.

The label apparently anticipated it would have a problem getting
airplay if thy released the single with the lyrics that were on the
album, so they re-sang that line. Apparently they're pressing future
versions of the CD with the single version, meaning yours might be a
collecters item some day!

That's a good point! I haven't noticed that but I'll check out the
lyrics. We've been playing the album cut before the song became a
single. Pretty interesting the lyrics were changed.

There is also another version of Emilio's "It's Not The End Of The
World." Instead of using "damn good start" is says "real good start."

Another interesting point. The single version of "The Keeper Of The
Stars" from Tracy Byrd is also different from the album version. It's
about a half step from each other. Tracy realized the song was easier
to sing if he sang he a half step higher (or lower, can't remember
which) so he did. He put that out on radio and that is what you hear
at his concerts too! I listened to the album version this morning.
There's a difference.

The version I hear on radio here in Houston says "joined the cult, joined
the klan". But KKBQ in Houston has been playing "NO NEWS" since around
Oct or November. Maybe some stations wouldnt play it with that line.
Don't know.....

My least favorite line change, is in "The Devil Went Down to Georgia", at
the end when, on the CD, he says "I told you once, you son of a bitch, I'm
the best that's ever been", and on the radio, it's "son of a gun".

Just not the same, if you ask me, although i can certainly understand why
they would change that one!

Charlie always did it as "son of a bitch" in concert. They cleaned it up for
radio. (This was 1980.)

Not to mention that most radio versions dropped (or even worse, 'bleeped')
the lines - "I had 'em all just a steppin' and fetchin', like their heads
were on fire and their asses were catchin'").
