Hey all,
no, I have no interest in this man's hair, personally, but a Lady at work,
our receptionist, has a question for y'all. She has noticed that Alan isn't
really see without his hat on. She thinks he may be going bald and hiding it
with his hat. Does anyone know if he is balding? We all know that Garth and
Dwight and a few others are doing it for that reason, but is Alan along the
ranks of these folks?

According to Alan's hairdresser, he has a full head of hair. He wears his hat
to cover two joining scars he got as a child. The joining scars form a 7.
When he removes his hat at concerts, you can see that he has a lot of hair.

What is under the hat? PLUG-OLA

Alan used to work in the mailroom at TNN, and I have seen footage of Alan at a
christmas party, and he had a receding hairline, thinning on the top, but not
as bad as Tim McGraw or the Dwight Yoakam.

Today, up close, you can see the corn-rows of hair plugs. There was a pic in
Country Weekly a couple of years back showing 'em clearly.

Believe me, if the dude had a full head o' hair, he will display it more often

If he had a full head of hair, wouldn't that cover the scars?

I recall hearing from folks in Nashville that Alan did have
hair plugs done a couple of years ago.

So what is he does have hair plugs? No different from getting color,
highlighting, bleach, etc.

Hair or no hair, these guys wear hats (or not) because of the image
decided on for them by the suits when they're signed. However, there is
a practical reason for wearing a hat on stage: to keep the lights out of
your eyes. I wear a ball cap for that reason. A cowboy hat is a pain
when you change instruments, and you can't put them down just anywhere.

Gee, now there's a bought-and-paid-for statement by one of Alan's hired service
personnel. What's the hairdresser supposed to say if he/she wants to keep
his/her job?

> He wears his hat
>to cover two joining scars he got as a child. The joining scars form a 7.
>When he removes his hat at concerts, you can see that he has a lot of >hair.

Quite the contrary. I've seen him remove his hat up close, in person, *and* on
televised shows, and the first time I saw it, I was kind of shocked to see how
his *very* thin his hair is on top. The thick blond stuff that looks so purty
hanging down from his hat is all growing from the sides and back of his head.
Not much happenin' on top.

That being said, there is absolutely *nothing* wrong with a man's losing his
hair. But if one is losing their hair, IMO they should not try and hide the
fact on a daily basis. They should get a cut *appropriate* for a guy losing his
hair, and not rely on a HAT or a WIG to camouflage the fact. And a balding guy
with long hair is NOT a pretty site, IMO.

If Alan had *fabulous* hair, he'd publicly wear the hat only about 50% of the
time, rather than 99.9%, as he does now.

My son wear a cowboy hat on stage because his hair is so thick. He keeps it
cut very short. He changes to a ballcap during breaks.

It really doesn't make a damn what anybody thinks about Alan's hair or
anybody elses. It belongs to them and they can do whatever the hell they
want with it, don't ya think? (Or at least, the last time I checked, this
was STILL America.)

And actually, if he had *fabulous* hair, the "true & correct" percentages
(courtesy of Deloitte & Touche) he'd publicly wear the hat are 38.9%, rather
than the 68.6%, as he does now.

Sheesh.

for simply one reason, he is a true to life honest to goodness good guy

If you have ever seen George without his hat you'd realize that he doesn't need
a hat to hide anything! He's got gorgeous thick hair. Looks as good without a
hat as with one!

I'm with you, Debra. Alan removed his hat at the fan club party. Believe me,
he doesn't wear a wig and it's not as thin as some people think. Everybody's
hair begins to thin out. Even those with very thick hair.

I'm surprised *you're* surprised! I've been seeing him around
town sans hat for over ten years. He doesn't dress up like
"Dwight Yoakam" in real life, and doesn't bother hiding his
baldness, either.

The real advantage, which he has now discarded, was the anonymity it
afforded him when he wasn't in his on-stage character.

The first time, I saw Dwight Remove his hat was about 8 years ago and it
surprise me.....Only time I see Dwight is in interviews and videos... Don't
see him at a *relax* state... As I have seen Clint Black... wearing his
sweat pants roaming around Houston or George in his T-shirts, jeans, tennis
shoes and baseball caps ... roaming around SA .... and one time GS was
wearing a pair of shorts.... I would love to see more of these guys with
their gaurd down...it would be interesting !!

Clint's been sighted shopping in my neighborhood (I've heard
that he and Lisa have a house not far away) but I've only seen
him at events. I ran into Reba at the mall about the time she

country stars, but *everybody* in any facet of showbiz seems

He can still be anonymous in a baseball cap and baggy clothes.
He was right in front of me in the greeting card dept. of the
drug store on the corner of Fairfax and Sunset, and it took me

I wear a cowboy hat when performing and never remove it when in
sight of the audience. I also wear it to and from the venue, and I
look like a completely different person when I'm not "in costume".

In my case it *does* have to do with hair (or increasing lack of it), and
the particular image I'm trying to portray while performing. Normally I
go "business casual", or wear a suit & tie.

Other than getting chilly more easily in cold weather, I don't have
any particular problem with my expanding forehead, and would never
resort to a phony hairpiece or other camouflage.

Show business is about presenting a believable illusion, and the
hat handles that for me.

I'd speculate that AJ also has a particular "professional look" he's
striving for, and that includes the cowboy hat. Terri Clark would be
another example, and she certainly doesn't have a hair loss problem
that I can see.

I remember the first time when I met Clint, he wanted to be a country
singer so badly !! The Blacks use to live next door to a very good friend
of mine, when the boys were attending Strafford High School... Then I lost
track of Clint, they had moved into Katy ... Then I was working at a
resturant in Spring Texas Wuenchese ... Guess who came in for a try out....
Talk about pushy... Yep... Clint was pushy...He had to know if he sounded
perfect and if we all liked him... Clint hadn't changed a bit, You should
of seen us ... shaking our heads at each other and smiling... he knew I was
the same ole gal when I looked at time and told him.. You were okay ...
Knowing how good he really was and never letting on... That use to drive
him crazy !!
I met Alan Jackson, he was walking out of Houston finest steak houses
here. The Taste of Texas, my hubby and I was walking out of Fuddruckers
which was right next to each other.. He was really nice, especially to the
children.. they appreciated that alot !
I see so many here when they come here for shows and rodeo just out and
about.. I have met Reba many times backstage, but the real surprise was
seeing her at the Galleria !! Its amazing who you see where.. You are in a
great location to see people and I feel Houston is also a great location to
see people...I met John Travolta, back when he was here filming Urban
Cowboy at the Galleria ! I met Clint Eastwood at my church... He goes
there when he is in town... We have alot of celebrities that visit's our
church when they are here... So that is another good location !!
We have a few celebrities in the family ... and its fun when fans reconize
them !
