Personally, I think $15 for a CD is a fair price. A hard back book costs
around $25. Popcorn at the movies is overpriced. Everything in this economy
costs.

The companies are the ones that control the prices in every consumer
catergory, some places might have something a few dollars cheaper but don't
expect to buy a new CD for a buck at any store.

Hello Clark,
I usually just gloss over this newsgroup now and then but this thread just
made me stop and respond:)I have no quarrell with $15 CDs,or any price for that
matter.If I can afford it and it's worth it to ME,maybe I'll buy it,if not I'll
listen for free on the radio. The thing that "burns my biscuits" is that when
you go to the store or read the ads,it's something like$7.99 for
cassette,$13.99 for CD.Since the music is the same(Maybe a couple of bonus
tracks) it seems to imply that the cost to produce the Cd is $6 more than the
cost to produce a cassette, which we all know is not correct. Regards,Mark
PS-On a side note, every time I buy a cd just because of a new song I heard on
the radio,I'm almost always disappointed. It has a couple of good songs and a
lot of filler. So I usually am attracted to the bargain bin and stuff like
"Willie Nelson Super Hits" and such where all the songs are great songs, and for
5 o6 dollars too.Exceptions are Alan Jacksons Under The Influence and Jones
Cold Hard Truth. But then, this is just my opinion
> the people who set the price is the record companies, not the
>songwriters, artists or bands. All of them had better start
worring, what with what is coming out of "Nashville" these days, none of them
are going to be making any money from me!

Because 99% of the time, there may be only 2 -3 at the most that are worth
listening to.I'm not speaking of yours personally, but all the others I have
bought.
In the last year I've bought the most recent CD's from Clint
Black, Alan Jackson, Reba, George Strait, George Jones, Trisha,
Vince and most recently Lee Ann Womack. I have been disappointed
in only one of those CD's. The rest are filled with songs that
I can listen to over and over. I realize tastes differ and you
may prefer a different style of music than I do, but I have
very few CD's where I only like 2 or 3 songs. In many cases, I
love the album cuts more than the singles. I don't have a problem
with the cost of CD's and if occasionally I'm disappointed, well
that's life.
I've paid to see movies I was disappointed in, to buy books I
haven't particularly enjoyed, and to eat in restaurants that
didn't live up to their hype. In none of those cases did I figure
that my disappointment justified the idea that the next time I
could just steal the product. I guess I just don't "get" it.

Let me guess???? It has to be Vince!! It should be nominated for "Worse Album
Of The Year".

And i'm sure "all of them" aren't too worried about what money *you* are
giving them because for every 1 CD you don't buy, there will be 100 people who
DO buy it...
I'm not fond of all of the stuff coming out of Nashville these days either,
but if there are people who want to buy that, let them! And let they others be
the judge of what they think is worth paying for!

The artists didn't MAKE you pay anything. You want the item, you chose to buy
it. You don't want to pay full price? Wait for a sale or until they reach used
stores.
