Hi folks,
Well, I know I'll get flamed like heck for posting this but I'm
going to ask anyway.
How many male country singers wear earrings?
To me the type of person singing a song has as much meaning as
the words in the song. I'm from the old school and boys just don't wear
earrings. Also boys don't have long hair either.

Well, I guess I'll go put on my fire suit because this will
proberly cause a few flames.

Ok folks, let me clear up a few things: I don't go around beating up
people just because they wear earrings and/or have long hair. I, and
this is MY OPINION, do not like males wearing earrings. THAT WAS MY
OPINION AND MY OPINION ONLY! If a male wants to wear earrings, then he
has the right too. That does not mean I have to support him.

Yes, everyone has the right to their own opinion, but everyone does not
have to support that opinion.

All I asked was which male country singers wore earrings. Money is
tight while in college and I don't feel like spending it on people who
do things I don't approve of.

Likewise, if I listened to rap music, which I hope I never will, I
wouldn't go out and buy an album from a group that supports the killing
of cops and/or supports the use of drugs.

Stay at "home" and save your money. I am sure that EVERY country
singer male or female has done something in their life that you don'e
approve of. By the way for what it's worth, you are the first female that
doesn't like my long hair and earring...not that it really makes a s**t...

As the Pirates of the Mississippi sing in "Feed Jake" :

"Now if you wear an earring
Some will call you gay
But if you drive a pickup
They say 'no, he must be straight'"

I.e., don't judge a book by its cover.

(By the way, I don't have long hair, have never worn an earring, and never will)

Just in jest, I remember a friend of mine saying "Men shouldn't wear
earrings and women shouldn't wear beards!" Actually , though, Hal,
I just think that the original poster was just talking about personal
preference in looks; ie men should look like men and women should look
like women. Tying this thread in with discrimination against various
groups of people probably isn't really that valid!

Bert:
Why _isn't_ it valid? The original poster stated that she
wouldn't spend money on music made by a man who wore an earring.
She isn't concerned about how that person looks - it that
were the case, she just wouldn't look at the picture. Instead
the original poster is devalueing the entertainer's product
because the entertainer wears an earring. Sounds like pretty
basic discrimination to me.

Original poster: don't flame me privately for this. Like we've
both said "It's my/your opinion and we're entitled to state it."

Rather than be worried about an EAR being pierced, I'd like
to know what CnW types have pierced that yuh cain't see.
No worse than dehornin' brangus or simmental on a July

Look people, I'm the original poster and I'm not a she!

Call it discrimination if you like. At least I got the guts to stand up
for something that I feel is wrong. I disagree with men wearing
earrings, and therefore I don't think I should support them. Were you
all brought up in a Hard Rock Cafe where the theme is 'Love All, Serve
All'?

All I asked was which male country singers wore earrings. Only 1 person
has sent an answer, although I received several statements of support.

I was watching the Dolly Wood special on TNN last night with the
Oakridge Boys, and John Bonsall (lead singer on "Elvira") now has long
hair down the back, and, lo and behold, a diamond thingie in his left
ear! With his white moustache, salt and pepper hair, red shirt, and
red Converse tennies, I thought he looked rather like an established
country music star. The special was pretty entertaining. A number of
unknowns got the spotlight on national TV. It was very refreshing.

Peace.

Hey, by the way, what kind of a man's name is Tracy? Call it discrimination
if you like, but I don't think a man should have a girl's name. Jesse Helms
wouldn't approve. At least he and I got the guts to be narrow and illogical

Nope. Hate all, judge all. That's the ticket.

First off you idiot, I had no choice in my name. I made a choice if I
would wear an earring or not.

Jesse Helms has got guts to stand up for what's right. You on the other
hand are about as smart as a dumb jackass.

Also, since you read this newsgroup, have you ever heard of Tracy
Lawerence or Tracy Byrd? If so you would know they are men as well.

Look jerky, I don't need this shit from you!

You got the guts, alright. You should hook 'em up to brains sometime and
see if the warranty's still good.

So, what's your problem, dogmeat? Somebody put somethin' in your Diet Coke?
You got an ergonomic problem with your chair? All the man says is that he
disagrees with a certain concept, to wit, men wearing earrings. I might
not agree 100% with him either, but unless they switched the Constitution
on us this week, I think he's got a right to express his disagreement. Check
yer First Amendment, bozo. It's in there.

Mr. Tracy Lee Brooks' only error was in assuming that he was going to be
flamed by people of good taste and intelligence. I've seen damn few of 'em
on this thread. Lotta whining, no refining.

And another thing, nin.com.net - ain't it kinda low and cheap-shot like
to be ragging someone about their first name? I mean, we can't all have
some fancy alias like 'Dave'. Show a little respect; everyone on the
Net's gonna think you still got pimples.

Ah, the hell with it...quitting time. I'm going home.

Excuse me? Old school, men don't have long hair? I can name several of the largest country music legends that had long hair. And, long hair used to be one of the largest trends in the country culture. Don't act like your opinion has anything to do with "old school" because plenty of old school country music legends and tons of old school country people had long hair. Your opinion is clearly based on the mindset that men shouldn't have long hair because that is a female attribute. You are a bit sexist, and that is not debatable. I'm a man who grew up country under old school teachings in a very traditionalist family. But I have long hair and nobody in my family has ever said that it's not manly, nor have they ever claimed that it's not country or old school. Nor has anyone outside my family that I have ever met.

Sincerely,

A good ol' country boy with long hair :)
