Jeffery,
You missed a great concert. I went to Stabler Arena concert in
May. Travis and Lee Roy was outstanding! But can't say much about
Joe Diffie since he sang only three songs and walked off stage to never
come back. Travis had to come out and apologize to the audience.
Pam
So needless to say Joe Diffie isn't high on my list.
Pam
Hmm. I wonder what THAT was about.
When they played here in Boston, everyone was great. (Trisha Yearwood
was also on the bill and she was AWESOME... just an amazing voice.)
Anyway, I knew I would like Travis and Lee Roy (and Trisha), but Joe
Diffie was a major surprize. He was terrific. He had a great rapport
with the audience and he was much, much better in concert than he is
on disc.
I did notice, however, the sound system was probably set up for Travis
and modified for the others. You could understand his between-song
patter (when one could hear it above the drunken rowdies four rows
behind us) but the others were really not distinct enough to make out
the words.

There are two Rules of Life from which all others derive:
1. Don't be Stupid. 2. Don't be a jerk.
Travis Tritt rocked the house, of course. The stage was awesome and the
lighting/lazers were even better. He played for a long time leaving the Elvis
song "T-R-O-U-B-L-E" for his encore.
Why did Joe Diffie walk off? Was he ill or what? Just curious. This
tour is coming to Sioux Falls, SD in about 3 weeks.

Elvis? Really? Elvis?
Well, I am encouraged! I am going to his concert in Manhattan, KS this
weekend. :D *Everyone* that I have talked to that saw him in
concert here with Trisha Yearwood thought that it was FANTASTIC!
Needless to say, that has gotten me really psyched for the
concert, as well as what you all have added.
THANX!

The most important product of your life is you.
Well, I was at the concert in Manhattan last night, and I was somewhat
disappointed. First of all, the place was only about half full. I have seen
it packed for Sawyer Brown (twice), Vince and MCC, Brooks & Dunn, etc. I have
never seen a crowd so small in this arena. Why, I don't know.
Lee Roy Parnell was great. I would love to see a slide guitar duel between
him and Bonnie Raitt. Joe Diffey was also very good. He really had the crowd
going. Travis Tritt's sets, laser effects, motorcycle, and singing were all
up to his advance notice. However, the man is so full of himself, that I
eventually found him to be a bore. I didn't go to hear him run off a list of
all of his "good buddies" in country music, or to hear him explain that it has
only been five years since he was a nobody, or which of his songs were #1, or
to watch his videos. And I didn't appreciate him leaving a large number of
his best songs until the encore. About 20% of the audience left before the
encore, probably figuring that they would only miss one or two songs. He came
back, and played for a half hour before we had to leave (it was midnight, and
we had a sitter), and he was still going. Never got to hear T-R-O-U-B-L-E.
Not that I'm complaining about long concerts, but we could have heard more of
his excellent music if he had kept the autobiographical comments to a minimum.
I suspect that my reaction will be in the minority, but Tritt's ego is so big
that it is distracting in concert!
I have heard many different opinions about the actual concert itself. Many
people that went liked it, some didn't. The biggest praise went out to Joe
Diffie (he stole the show in Duluth)....and the biggest gripe was about
Travis (his show wasn't really country / bordering on R&R).
Anyway....there's my two-cents.

Travis said that Joe had a cold. (But he sounded O.K. to me.)
My friend thinks the man sitting in front row wearing a Davie Allison
t-shirt and giving Joe the "bird" had something to do with it.

He could of explained this to his paying fans who came to see him perform.
Him just walking off stage like he did kinda left a bad taste in my
mouth. I will never pay to see him again.

I'd have to say I agree with this. I saw the concert in Columbus, OH over
the summer and thought Lee Roy was on his way to big things and Joe Diffie
should go on tour by himself. He was absolutely great and worth the price
of admission by himself. Travis was very disappointing, though, and I don't
think I'd go see him again.
There's two more cents.

When I saw this tour over the summear at Great Woods in Mansfield, Mass.
I was overwhelmed. I have to admit some bias, as I am a big Travis
fan, but I thought his part of the show really rocked the house. I enjoy
all types of country, old and new, but the quality of music put out by
Travis and his band still blows me away !! EGO is a tough call, in this
music business. It's amazing how 2 people can watch the same exact
show , and then one say, 'Boy, he/she sure has an ego problem huh ? '
then the other respond, 'What the hell you talking about'. I saw the
special on TNN about the 10 ft. tall tour, where it showed some of the
backstage jamming with Leroy and Travis and Joe, and they all seemed
very 'down to earth' and friendly to me. With each other, and with the
fans. I also had the excellent treat of seeing Trisha Yearwood as part
of this act at the show !! I'd pay to see a line-up like that again
in a hearbeat, I'd even pay more for the ticket !!!! LOVED IT !!!

Just a thought here: People idolize these performers, throw
undergarments at them on stage, tell them how great they are, etc. etc./
I think you get the general idea of my thought, here.
And then, when the performer starts acting like an "idol", everyone gets
pissed, and thinks the person's conceited and egotistical. Does this not
strike anyone else as being a bit skewered? If you treat someone like an
idol long enough, they may start acting like one...
As I said, just a thought...
Thanks!
