I just read on another website that Mindy McCready(or is it spelled
Mcready-the article I just read spelled her name two different ways) has
left the record company she records for. This is a damn shame. I know
she had some problems finding songs for her second album, plus she had
some "man" problems, but Mindy is a very talented singer and she is very
attractive. It is terrible that the jerks she recorded for didn't stand
beside her. Also, radio should have played her more, but they were too
busy with Shania Twain. If Mindy reads anything on this newsgroup, I
would like to tell her this-I hope you get signed to another label(your
music is more original than many other singers) and I hope that radio
will pay attention next time.

Radio paid attention. She had two #1 songs. There are many singers her
age who'd kill for two #1s and a double platinum album.

On what chart?

Radio gave those two songs attention but ignored the others. The same goes for
Sawyer Brown they gave them some airplay but now they ignore them. Thats the
problem we need to stop this ignoring. Stations like B104.7 don't even give the
songs a chance. That will always be wrong.

All the blame can't be placed on radio. It doesn't help that the recent
music of Mindy and Sawyer Brown pale in comparison to their earlier works.
Current Sawyer Brown material, for the most part, is not of the same caliber
as Some Girls Do, Cafe On The Corner, etc. And Mindy still has me
bewildered as to how she can follow up a gem like Ten Thousand Angels with
her last two efforts.

Perhaps she was "too" country, and didn't show enough of her skin
(especially to music executives) as did such pop singers as Shania and
LeAnne Rimes.

Did any of you see the special on Bravo Tv on Nashville and some of its
singers. Mindy was the main topic of this show and it was taped
sometime after her first album was released and she was still pretty
HOT. Well anyway it kind of potrayed her as a little lazy and she was
complaining about staying in motels all the time and having to carry
her own luggage and stuff like that. She was also in California with
Dean Cain and her manager or record label or whoever it was, was trying
to get her back in the studio to record a new album and I think out on
the road to promote herself, but she said that she just didn't feel
like it right now.She wanted to stay in California with Dean. The
record label said she had better get with it because you don't get that
many chances. Reba McEntire was on the same show and she was just the
opposite of Mindy. She said you have to work hard all of the time
because there are just 8 million people out there who want your job. I
guess this is one of the main reasons that Reba is still around after
so many years and Mindy is now struggling.

Not True Sawyer Brown's quality is still excellent. Not to mention "Drive Me
Wild" went to the top 10 that is a hit. Therefore their quality is still
excellent. That song just got ignored by B104.7. How do you know about Sawyer
Brown quality anyway how many Sawyer Brown albums do you own? If you would buy
some you would realize that SB is still on fire. If anything they put out the
wrong singles.

I saw that show and you're right. Mindy sounded like a petulant child but Reba
really impressed me with her commitment to her career and music.

This post shows just how little you know about country. And about Mindy.

To quote Neal McCoy, a #1 is a #1. If it goes to #1 on an established
trade chart (Billboard, R&R, or Gavin), it's a #1. And it demonstrates
that radio paid attention. Because those charts reflect airplay.

That's not what I've heard. I spoke to a person from her band that told me
about her little screaming fits backstage, how she would say she had
tonsilitis to get out of a show (of course she was at the lake skiing that
same day), and other various antics. I heard that she got fired from the Tim
McGraw tour because she was running around backstage screaming "I can't get
dressed. My dressing room is too fucking cold!". Her band was telling her to
get dressed because she was late and the audience was waiting (about 10,000
people-btw, did I mention that she was only the warm-up act?) but little
miss Mindy didn't care about being a professional. She just wanted to act
like a punk.

That's why her career is over...........

Radio paid attention to those 2 songs. But ignored the rest. The ignoring of
the rest was the problem.

Not true. She had a total of five radio hits. Then she started pulling
the star trip. You can't blame others if the artist doesn't care enough
about her own music to promote it. She's a textbook case of too much too
soon. The music business is a competition. It's not charity. And last
time I checked, there is no shortage of people who say they can sing.

Likely and believable story. Just an opening act and going round as if she
were some swollen-headed superstar.
