Dear C&W listers,
I am in need of your collective knowledge. I am looking for a C&W song
and I don't know the artist or the title!!

All I know is that the song is one of those great "She left me and now I'm
going to drink" songs and it has some mention of drinking booze from a bottle
shaped like Elvis and pouring the stuff into a mason jar shaped like Fred
Flintstone - I believe the line is "I pulled the head off Elvis and filled
Fred to his pelvis, Elvis is gone and so are you." Or something like that.

If anyone has any idea who recorded this masterpiece I would be very
appreciative. I'm hoping its George Jones but have no idea.

Thank's in advance for any help.

Tim, it's sung by George Jones on his 1989 album, "One Woman Man." The
song was originally titled "Yabba-Dabba Doo," but after a threatened
lawsuit from Hanna-Barbera, the song was changed to "The King is Gone."
Good luck in finding it. My copy is on vinyl. In 1989, most albums
were issued in three formats: cd, cass, and lp. It was also issued as a
12-inch single, for radio play. So if you still have a real record
player, you may be luckier than you think.

As others have replied, the song "The King is Gone (And So Are You)" was
sung by George Jones. I have this song on CD, but I had to buy a 3-CD
set to get it. The set came out on the Sony Music record label 2 or 3
years ago, and it's called "George Jones: 36 All-Time Greatest Hits!".
If you like many of George's songs, you might consider looking fot it.
It's a great collection!

The name of this George Jones tune is actually "Ya Ba Da Ba Do (So Are
You). It was released on the cd, "One Woman Man". It was released by
Epic, #EK44078. Written by R. Ferris.
Hope this helps.

Actually, that WAS the name of the song, at least until Hanna Barbera
threw a fit about it. Then, they changed the name of it, and on the
newer CD's, it's called "The King Is Gone (And So Are You)."

The song you are looking for is "Elvis is gone and so are you" originally
sung by George Jones and also Pinkard and Bowden.
