I am looking for the words for a very old song. When I heard it, it was on
a 78 record. I believe it must be from the thirties. The only words that I
can remember are: "Fargo Fanny was a bold, bad gal but she done things
within the law." I would appreciate it greatly if anyone knows the lyrics
or where I could locate them.

I was just thinking of that song the other day-- it's out at my Mom's place.
Can't remember all of it. Hmmmmm
Fargo Fanny was a bold bad gal, but she done things within the law.
She openly admitted all the crimes that she committed - cuz she done things
Within the Law.
(Can't remember... they found her boyfriend with a bullet in his brain)-
But she convinced the judge she only meant to kill the pain,
Because she done things within the law.
And so on.

I remember this song from the 50's. We named
Our dog Fanny because of the song, but I don't remember much more than you do of the lyrics.

"A wealthy rancher" disappeared but when the law explored
They found him in the cellar where Fanny had him stored but
Fanny made it legal when she charged him room and board
ho ho she done things within the law.
"Fanny caught a married man" out with someone else's dame
He paid Fanny money not to expose his name
