Does anyone remember the old Bluegrass Inn and Wind in the Willows in
Nashville where Hubert Davis and The Season Travelers played? I am looking
for some of their recordings.
"Wednesday....Thursday.....Friday.....and Saturday night...every week that
rolls around, right at the Bluegrass Inn. If you like our friends you tell
em about it, if not, then keep your mouth shut. Every things gonna be
alright!"

Look forward to bumping into another Season Traveler

Ah, the Bluegrass Inn! My first trip to Nashville, back around 72-73 or so,
I went with some friends who were not quite as "adventurous" as I was. We
pulled into the gravel parking lot of the Bluegrass Inn on Saturday night,
scenicly located behind a grocery store. They took one look at the place
and the clientele and said they weren't going in. After much argument we
wound up going to Printer's Alley, where we paid a ridiculous cover charge
and bought an expensive drink to listen to some alleged comedian tell
"naughty" jokes. After my compatriots realized what a bad idea this was, I
prevailed upon them to head back to the BG Inn. Hubert Davis and his band
were holding forth, the place was hopping, and a number of guests came
through, including, I seem to recall, Vassar Clements and Bill Monroe.
My friends were impressed and I was vindicated. I made several trips
back there over the years, including a stay of two or three weeks in
Nashville when I was there every night it was open.
I seem to recall that the place was known as "Earl Snead's Bluegrass Inn".
Was Earl the banjo player for Hubert Davis, or did he just own the place
and sit in occasionally, or am I just really confused?
