Hello,

I found a version of the ballad "Wild Mountain Thyme" via an online music
service some time ago, and have since been searching frantically for the album
it is featured on, but to no avail. It features, along with the McGarrigle
sisters, Dick Gaughan, Emmylou Harris, and Linda Rondstadt. I've searched
allmusic.com, artistdirect.com, tower.com, and other major music sites with no
luck. If any members of this group have an idea of the next direction in which
I may pursue the source of this song, please respond to the group or via email.

Thanks in advance for any help,

Sam

The best recording of this tune I have ever heard was the singing of Jack

I don't want to be too disputatious about this, since I've heard some
pretty good versions of it on the radio, without knowing who sang it,
but I've never heard anything to surpass "Will You Go, Lassie, Go"
by the McPeake Family of Belfast, Prestige International LP 13018.

Unless, of course, "Wild Mountain Thyme" is not the same song as "Will
You Go, Lassie, Go." I've gotten confused on this sort of thing
before.

I don't know if anyone has re-released the PI catalog on CD, but this
whole album is great.

Various folks have mentioned other good recordings of the song, most notably
the McPeakes'. The one you are talking about, however, may be on the CD "The
McGarrigle Hour". Sorry, don't know the label, but I believe it's still in
print.

Peace,
Paul
