Kerry is right, Alonzo Elvis "Tony" Alderman of the Original Hill Billies and
the Buckle Busters is the only Elvis in oldtime music and made his first issued
recordings 74 years ago.
He surely had a driver's license. Got some good notes from him about the
difficulty of traveling by car from gig to gig in the 1920s, also got some
humorous ones from Horace Carson who drove Fiddling John and Moonshine Kate.
I'll dig 'em out and post them sometime when I have enough patience to attack
