This is a long shot. I'm looking for the lyrics to a song called "Don't Go
Near the Indians". I know it was recorded in 1962 by Ben Colder, a.k.a.
Sheb Wooley (Purple People Eater). But this may have been a remake or
take-off of an earlier recording by someone else. I'm trying to establish
whether the original version was a satire or something darker.

Partial chorus lyric:

"Son don't go near the Indians, please stay away.
Son don't go near the Indians, please do as I say."

Later in the song, "Indians" is replaced by "Eskimos"

Thanks

The version by Ben Colder was most likely a satire.
The serious song was recorded by Tex Ritter & Rex Allen. Maybe
others.

"Son, Don't go near the Indians" was a hit for Rex Allen ( I don't
recall now if it was Jr. or Sr.). I still have the 45 from when I was
a kid. Not sure where all those old records are right now but if I
find them, I'll post the lyrics. I haven't thought of this song in a
long time.
