Anyway, as he's sitting in his car getting ready to go in, he's listening to
a Johnny Cash version of the old song, 'Tennessee Stud'.
Can anyone point me to an album or CD, even a compilation, that will have
this song on it? Hearing that voice again, after so long a time, made me
realize all over that Johnny Cash's voice goes straight to the bedrock. He's
the greatest singer I've ever heard, and I'm not even a country music fan.
Thanks in advance for any help,
Jay

Cash's live version of "Tennessee Stud" is on "American Recordings."
A great album, and Cash covers some interesting songwriters -- Nick
Lowe, Tom Waits, Loudon Wainwright, Leonard Cohen.

As much as I love Johnny Cash and he has been one of my favorites since
the fifties, I dont think anyone can touch Doc Watson's version of the
Tennessee Stud on the Nitty Gritty Dirt Bands's "Can the Circle Be
Unbroken" album. It may be the definitive recording of this song for me.

Yep. One of the earliest major Philadelphia soul groups, though
not as famous as the Stylistics or the O'Jays.
