The Henry Reed Memorial Fiddlers Convention will be held June 11-12 in
Glen Lyn, Va (Henry's hometown). This will be the second annual event
held in Henry's memory & honor. Glen Lyn is located on the Va-WV state
line in Giles County in Southwest Va.

Henry's son Dean (my Dad) & Chris Via are the lead cat herders in
organizing the event, here is the latest info from Chris' web site
(http://www.gilesmountainstringband.com/henryreed.html):

The Convention will be held June 11 & 12, 2004, at Glen Lyn Town Park.
We have beautiful camp sites and vendors will be available. Our first
year was such a success. This year we are looking forward to an even
bigger crowd and more competitors.

Campground will be open Thursday for setting up. Competition will begin
Friday at 5:00 PM, with Youth, Auto Harp and Folk Song Competition.
Individuals will compete Friday and Saturday, Bands will compete on
Saturday night.

Cardens Motel in Rich Creek will offer a discounted rate for Convention
goers. Phone number is (540) 726-2362. To receive the special rate, just
mention that you are attending the Convention. They have 19 units available.

For more information, please contact us.
Bands should contact: ch...@gilesmountainstringband.com.
Vendors should contact: ca...@gilesmountainstringband.com.
For general info contact Chris.

One item not yet mentioned on Chris' site is that Alan Jabbour will be
presenting a 2-day fiddle workshop. I'll post more details about the
event as they become available.

Hope to see you there!
