How do you clean the crud off bow hair? I tried woolite, but it didn't

Denatured alcohol works good, just detach the frog from the stick when you use
it, so you won't risk getting it on the finish,

My daughter's fiddle teacher rubs it on a sugar cube, then puts
rosin back on.

when a bow get to much rosin on it you can lossen the frog from the
stick, make a circle with the horse hair and give it a bath in the sink
with warm water and dishing washer liquid, let it dry and rosin it bACK
UP.

No, rubbing alcohol is fine so long as you protect your stick. The
varnish may be soluble in alcohol. Once clean, you will have to get
enough rosin back on the hair. I crush an old piece of rosin, wrap the
loose hair in it an get lots of rosin on, with a small brush or
toothbrush. Stay away from household cleaners.
