No, it wasn't (a hit for Norma Jean). At least it isn't listed in
Joel Whitburn's book of Top Country Singles, which lists anything
that ever made the top 100 in Billboard. Which, I suppose means that
maybe it was a #101 "hit" for her.
And according to Whitburn, the Springfields were an English folk trio
composed of Dusty, her brother Tom Springfield, and Tom Feild
(spelling?). Their only showing on the country charts was "Silver
Threads," which got as high as #10 for them in 1962.

Well ok, I defer to your facts from the Whitberg source. Norma sang it and
Porter said it was a hit, but thats ShoBiz.
