It's an intimate listening room that offers coffee beverages and sandwiches.
Get there a bit early to get a good seat.
We've been learning a bunch of great new songs and tunes by , the Carter
Family, Otis Burris, Dock Boggs, Buck Owens & Rose Maddox, and we'll be
performing some of them for the first time at the Atlas. Come on down and see
if we can remember all the words!!!
The Bluegrass Intentions are:
Bill Evans (ex-Dry Branch Fire Squad) on banjo
Alan Senauke (ex-High Country) on guitar
Eric Thompson (Calif. Cajun Orchestra) on mandolin
Suzy Thompson (Calif. Cajun Orchestra) on fiddle
Larry Cohea (High Country) on bass and banjo too.
We play traditional bluegrass music, inspired by our musical heroes, some of
whom are Bill Monroe, the Osborne Brothers, Benton Flippen, the Stanley
Brothers, Cousin Emmy, Flatt & Scruggs, Tommy Jarrell, Rose Maddox, the Carter
Family, Red Allen, Jimmy Martin, Kitty Wells, Otis Burris...you get the idea.
We've also been making some cross-genre experiments; my favorite (so far) is a
Cajun waltz from Library of Congress with words from oldtime fiddler Tommy
Jarrell performed bluegrass style. Fun!!!
Hope to see you there,
Suzy Thompson
P.S. We'll also be playing at Ashkenaz in Berkeley on Wed. Sept. 21, for a
Fling Ding that will also feature oldtime music by Kate Brislin, Jody Stecher,
and Heath Curdts.
